Have a 2019 JLRU 2.0t. The battery is not charging. Just installed a new suspension with a lot of welding, battery was unhooked while welding. The battery will hold a charge but the voltage drops while driving. Found fuse F75 blown. To troubleshoot should the alternator be putting out 14+ volts read at the battery when idling if not what voltage should it be? What could be causing the no charging issue? Thanks.

Do you have ESS (start-stop) on your Jeep? If so the Aux battery may be bad and is pulling your main battery down with it! I believe the alternator gives 14+ when driving.

Voltage when idling is like 12.5-13ish. When driving it should sit around 14.4. The OEM batteries are absolute crap though and most likely your aux or even both have a bad cell and should be replaced.

Long arm kit install?

mine is always around 13.5-14.4V with engine running. sounds like the voltage regulator in your alternator may be faulty

Thanks. Idling or at higher rpm’s the voltage is the same as it is not running so definitely an issue. Battery is now a Optima yellow top.
Yes just installed the EVO long arms.

With the eTorque you don’t have a standard alternator but a starter/generator. Thats the bad news. The good news is that it may still be under warranty. You may want to look into that.

Here's one option. I don't know what you consider to be expensive, so I'm just passing on the link as an FYI. đź‘Ť
This is what my Jeep calls for. List price $914 but found it for $602

Because it's part of the etorque system and considered part of an emmissions device, like the etorque batter is, it may be covered under the same party of the warranty. I believe it's 80k miles (I forget the time, but at least 5 years) Worth a shot. That generator is expensive.
