FWIW, The turbocharger itself is a Garrett, not an in-house FCA product. Garrett has been in the racing world, producing turbos, for quite some time. I’m not worried about the turbocharger. The engine is still yet to be truly proven, but seems to be doing pretty well so far.

I too was pleased to see Garrett on the turbocharger's casting.

A bit of trivia: a few of the earlier production engines used a Honeywell unit.

I have a 2018 and running a Honeywell so can confirm.

I think they are the same other than the stamping on the housing. Honeywell spun off Garrett in late 2018 I believe.

Technically, the 2.0L is 29 lbs heavier

I would rather weigh it myself. I don't believe most any manufacturers claims on weights. The only one that is even close is Honda Powersports. Their motorcycles always come in within a few pounds.

And even if it is accurate, that just tells me that the 2.0 (despite the turbo) is of more robust construction than the 3.6.

Thats not what that means at all. People will make up all sorts of reasons to justify their decision on these engines it seems.

Longevity is the big question about the 2.0l. So far so good…this little engine exceeds all of my expectations. Great at high altitude and more than adequate at 80mph on the interstate. My 2015 JK struggled in comparison. I certainly understand those who want more but the 2.0 seems to be well mated to the JL….and more than adequate.

The problem with the JK was always the horrible transmission. The single biggest upgrade on the JL is the 8 speed.

For myself It's all about choice. I think all the power plants have advantages and disadvantages. with 5 power plat choices there is something for everyone.

I have decided to move along in the direction of technology. A nice 4.0 inline 6 engine would be sweet but those days are over.

Heck some guys are getting a huge 392. good on them. The cost of ownership and drivetrain reliability be damned.

My current full size rig has a 4.3 V6. I'm downsizing on all my vehicles. Big engines and diesels just do not appeal to me. After over 18 years of driving huge tankers with noisy monster motors and manual transmissions I'm over it.

I will say comparing Wrangler engine options is kind of like the 2 door vs 4 door thread.

Strange, but it looks like it depends on the package. The Sport is 29lbs heavier, the sahara is identical and the rubicon is 29lbs heavier with the 2.0. Maybe it's not the engine at all but whatever else comes standard when you choose that engine? Weird

My wife in her 2.0L, me in my car that is speced 0-60 in 7.1 seconds; Side by side at a red light. She taunts me to race… I lol. No way a Jeep is gonna beat me…

We launched. I spun the tires a little and pull slightly ahead. Then she blows by me and is about 2-Dr Jeep length ahead of me by the time we hit 60.!

I’m a bit floored and she grins from ear to ear.

That’s about all I know about the 2.0L. ?

So had some bad luck the other day while on my way to place my order for a 22 wrangler. Basically someone ran a red light and hit my car and totaled it which put me in a bad spot since I was on my way to order a 22. Now I dont have a car and probably cant wait for a 22 to be built but the dealership I was ordering from actually has a rubicon recon edition thats close to my specs I wanted but I am pretty sure all recon editions have the 2.0 in it. So my question is for the people who own one or have ridden in one how does it feel? I had 2018 Rubicon in the 3.6 and I am a little afraid the 2.0 is going to feel very under powered. Thanks

I love the 2.0. to me the 3.6 just didn't have enough torque. This 2.0 does everything you need it to. Couldn't say enough good things about it. I have a 2021 Sahara. All gas no etorque .

Love my 2.0... i have 35's with Mopar Lift and steel bumpers and have no power issues at all even when fully loaded for a trip. that turbo is snapy.
