Hey all - I have an 18 JLU Sport S with 35” tires and the 2” Mopar lift. I have 30k miles and started experiencing issues where I experience the JLU trying to downshift after I’m done accelerating from stop, but it’s a strong jerk when it does. I’m not sure if it’s a sign I need a re-gear and my 35s have been taxing the jeep, or something else. Also, when I start rolling to a stop I can hear something click underneath. You can tell I’m not a whiz with this stuff, so any help appreciated! Anyone have any ideas?

Is it a click or a clunk?

Is the transmission actually downshifting or does it just feel like it?

Not exactly a clunk but when i reach a steady speed after accelerating from stop, it feels like an aggressive down shift that repeats as it tries to settle into a gear, until I give it gas and start accelerating again. Like it’s trying hard to find 7 or 8 and will repeatedly yank a bit

Stock 3.45 and 35s aimt a good combination. I don’t care what anybody says, I couldnt stand it with 34s. And I had a Jscan and hikeit X9 throttle controller.

The darn tranny kept upshifting then downshifting constantly fishing for gears.

Not saying your tranny is fine, as this would have to be checked.

but if all turns out fine, Go with 4.56 and you’ll love the drive just like you did with the stock tires.

To your point, I wonder if what I’m feeling was it repetitively fishing for gears, which created that jolt. It did feel like it kept trying to find 8, which I haven’t had since I got the 35”s. I drove it to the dealer this morning and of course, no issues like last night so couldn’t reproduce. They checked the computer and all was green… time shall tell, but perhaps it’s time to finally regear?

It’s a good idea to regear anyway. Might as well get it done then repair the transmission if needed.
