If I were you, and considering the family situation, I would look for a set of new 2018 Rubicon take off wheels. There will be lots of these out there as Rubi owners upgrade to 35” tires. For your type of driving these will fit with no spacers or lift. If you can pick them up for $1500 (fair price) and sell your set for $1000 that’s a pretty nice upgrade for a net cost of $500 bucks!
Very good suggestion that I had not thought of.
Rubi wheels/tires are popping up all over craigslist, my neighbor sold his set of 5 for $1000.

I should edit my post. I’m talking a set of Rubicon take off wheels AND tires. I should have made that clearer! You can’t go to 35” tires on a Sahara without spacers or a lift, and it sounds like, because of your family situation, you really don’t want to. My solution gives you a bigger, better tire than the Sahara and avoids the lift kit.
Ah, ok, gotcha! That’s very similar to my original plan :thumbsup

I think if I don’t do a lift, I’ll do 33s on 17s with the required offset/BS to not need a lift (just trim/remove air dam). So, really, basically the same thing you’re recommending I’d probably pick up some Duratracs or Ridge Grapplers, though, and different wheels just because I’m not a fan of the Rubi TOs.

I haven’t even ordered mine yet ‘cuz I’m waiting for Mojito! But now I’m thinking of a loaded Sport S instead of the Rubi with a small spacer lift, either XD Monster II or Black Rhino wheels and Nitto Ridge Grappler LT 285 x 75 x 17 tires (34” diameter) tires!

Those RGs in 285/75/17 at the C load are my top pick if I don’t swing to 35s. I wish we had more C options (spoken like the true mall krawler I am).

You know it man! I think that tire and size hits the “sweet spot” for non Rubicon Wranglers! The C load rating will definitely help the ride and they are only 1/2 inch in diameter less than a 35!

I sold the Sahara ,but do have a rubi and a sport ordered. The Sport will stay at our beach house, it will replace a 2012 jk we have there now. My Wife really likes the JL and she is not a Jeep Girl.

You, sir, are living on a different level, I think :)

The 1 inch jk spacer fits up front, that will level the jl out. I agree 2 inch in front and 1 inch in rear is perfect for 35’s
I'm curious about this. Do you want a 1 inch differential between the lift in the front vs the rear? Is that what it takes to maintain the factory stance? I just put 35's (315/70) on my JLUR and would also like to lift the Jeep about 1 inch to maintain wheel well clearance. In addition, I am planning to add a winch on the front, which will obviously add weight to the front of the vehicle. Is it better in this case to add 2" spacers in the front and 1" in the rear? I just want to make sure I don't increase the overall height of the vehicle by more than 1 inch.

The factory stance has a rake of about 3/4 inch with the front being lower than the rear. I added a winch to my Sahara so a 1 inch differential front to back leveled it out perfectly. If someone wants to keep the factory rake they just add the same height spacers front and rear.
The winch really does not weigh the front down much at all, I just prefer the leveled look.

My Rubicon is not here yet so I cannot confirm the "leveled" look will be desireable, with the front fenders being 2 inches higher.
Optical illusion/eye trickery may make a perfectly leveled Rubicon look slightly higher in the front.

Kinda expensive for what you get.
Front JL spacers can be had for $25, I dont see the rear being $100+.

However the 2/1 kit will be perfect for Rubicon with 35's.

Good find!!!

Expensive for what you get, RC is the better buy.
Kind of what I expected, unfortunately :( Just poor product information/advertising :(

Thanks, you’re the best. Really appreciate all of your expertise.

I edited my previous comments because it really isn't a bad buy just a little expensive. (I'm a bonafide cheapskate)

The prices will come down eventually.

$100 for the 2/1 kit would be acceptable even by me.

One ebay seller is coming out with a JL rear spacer soon and it will sell for $23-$33. (Summitt Enginering). They already sell a front for $22-33, 1 inch all the way to 3 inch.

Oh wow this is awesome - I need to look them up on eBay. I am thinking this will be the route I go with my Sahara to squeeze 35s in there. Am I crazy?

Also, I appreciate your cost-effective eye :) I don’t know enough to apply the level of scrutiny I normally would... in other words, I’m primed to be a sucker here! I just don’t know anything about the suspension world, at all.
