My wife got me the barricade 9,500 winch. I don’t know a lot about the difference between winches. Could anyone give me the pros and cons regarding this winch?

A 9500 lb is a tad light, I believe 12k is the recommended minimum

I don’t know much about winches but many here would disagree and say that 9,500 lbs is generally fine for most users.

Don't you have a 9500lb winch...? Haha

Jeep Wrangler JL Barricade 9,500 winch 88xUi4by_400x400

I run a 10K. The 9500 is plenty until you get into truck weight. (60's, 40's, cage, bumpers...whatnot) Then the extra pull would be helpful. Besides, those ratings are only for the first winding on the drum. If you're pulling like normal people, on the last or second to last winding, you're rating is cut in half. So, a 10k is only giving ~5k or less of pull on the last winding.

To answer the OP's question, I've heard great things about this winch, but I don't have any experience with it.

You're fine. Get a snatch block with a recovery kit to double that. I have a 2dr with a Smittybuilt 9500. No issues

I was going to mention snatch blocks, myself, but didn't want this to turn into a Winch 101 thread. Lol. Huge fan of the snatch block for changing direction of the winch line. I haven't really needed it to double power yet...one day, I'm sure.

Most of these Asian built winches use the same components or technology, they get the job done, I would not recommend them for commercial or marine use though. I will say the Barricade is pretty plane jane looking compared to the Smitty built and Rough country for example
