Poll: winch or no winch

Curious.

I’ve had them in the past and never once used it other than to test operation.

Not even used for construction purposes as general contractor.

My winch has saved my ass more times than I can count.

Only you can decide if a winch is worth your time and money. If you are conservative about where you go and how far you push, maybe a winch is not needed for you. But if you wheel as a sole vehicle and are adventurous, a winch will eventually pay its way. I've had one on the front of my 2018 for almost 3 years. I just used it for the first time, while wheeling alone on a moderately difficult BOH trail on a weekday (no traffic).

Literally used my Badlands winch the first time wheeling after getting it with a friend to get him out - mind you he was in an FJ so maybe that was the issue vs me having a Jeep

Most of my drive to work is back ass country road so I use my winch a few times every winter pulling people out of the ditch because they think they can drive the speed limit in a foot of snow or an inch of ice.
