I’ve had them in the past and never once used it other than to test operation.

Not even used for construction purposes as general contractor.

Only you can decide if a winch is worth your time and money. If you are conservative about where you go and how far you push, maybe a winch is not needed for you. But if you wheel as a sole vehicle and are adventurous, a winch will eventually pay its way. I've had one on the front of my 2018 for almost 3 years. I just used it for the first time, while wheeling alone on a moderately difficult BOH trail on a weekday (no traffic).

Literally used my Badlands winch the first time wheeling after getting it with a friend to get him out - mind you he was in an FJ so maybe that was the issue vs me having a Jeep ;)

Most of my drive to work is back ass country road so I use my winch a few times every winter pulling people out of the ditch because they think they can drive the speed limit in a foot of snow or an inch of ice.
