This is Quadratec explaining the complexity of the 4 Aux switches kit for the JL.

For those that didn't get it included with your build - it appears to be a bit of work and requires a reflash of the Uconnect system to integrate it.

Pretty damn awesome setup!

Thanks for flagging this. $375 for the kit versus $795 for the Trailer Tow / HD Electrical Group package. Obviously, it will depend on your individual budget and ability to install on your own if this is the route for you. I would argue that the package is a much better option since you get the trailer hookup and wiring done for you.

Keep in mind unless you know them and they are nice, your dealer will likely charge you an hour labor minimum to reflash the Uconnect system. Could raise your cost maybe an additional $100-$150+, dealer hourly rates arent cheap.

So $475 as a minimum right off the bat, leaving the tow package as a $325 option. Id save the extra if its something you really want, that integrated tow package is nice not to mention what your own time is worth installing those items separately.

Also the trailer group comes with a larger battery and alternator - also I think the 110v power socket is included in this as well.

What would also be nice would be an option for the non-Rubi drivers to get an 8 button switch that would use up that whole area instead of putting in a stupid half hole plug. I know that I could be creative and use up most of those switches if not all of them.

Exactly. When you factor the dealer cost to flash the computer, the upgraded battery and alternator, and the time to install, this becomes an easy decision, IMO.

Quick question, currently building a Wrangler Sport S. Instead of choosing the LSD I will likely get a selectable Eaton E Locker at some point. Would the AUX switches be able to activate the lock differential or will I still need to install a separate switch in the dash?

If you are going to wire the elocker yourself then there is no reason you couldn't wire it to one of the aux switches.

To owners the base model Sport with the Uconnect 3.0 (5-inch) AND have the Trailer Tow/HD Electrical Group....

Are the AUX buttons programmable with the smaller Uconnect 3.0 unit? I know they can be with the 7" & 8.4" Uconnect 4.0, but I am wondering if the buttons can be programmed on-screen with the 5-inch 3.0.

Good question, I'd like to know as well. Any Base Sport owners with Tailer/HD Elec out there?

Update on Uconnect 3.0's ability to program the AUX buttons that come with the Trailer Tow/Heavy Duty Electrical group:

Per FCA (Chrysler Group LLC Customer Assistance)... no, you cannot program the AUX buttons using the 5-inch Uconnect 3.0 screen. Or as they put it: "The Aux 1-4 Switches are available only on the UConenct 4. This function is not available with the UConnect 3 system."

So, in addition to never being able to get the (infamous) "Off-Road Pages", lowly Uconnect 3.0 owners lose AUX button programming functionality.

The more you know...
