All kidding aside, I am jealous of the factory performance parts sliders the MOAB has. They are not quite aftermarket, but would work great for a step for my daughter to use.
My 11y/o uses it to get in all the time. Only question is the toll it'll take on my paint - it's not all that wide so I'm sure she's hitting the piece under the door. I suppose if I was smart I'd put some protective film on it, oh well.

Id buy a rubicon in a heartbeat if they were more affordable. My jeep is a weekend toy and it was hard enough convincing the wife/boss/accountant to let me spend what i did.

I think the moab is cool for people who want the full time awd and prefer the off road look over the fancy shmancy sahara.
The Moab is a nice in between and would work well for someone around my area that wants a fully loaded Sahara with more trail features that isn’t gong to mod too much
Even tho the limited slip isn’t the greatest when paired with larger tires, it works well in the winter wonderland we have. The auto 4 wheel is also a nice feature for the snow covered roads and sandy loose back roads. Bumper is almost winch ready

We have some fun technical sections up here but have drives in between them and the 4:1 gets annoying after awhile going in and out of 4 lo

I keep meaning to get some clear 3m for the door sill. Wore the paint right off my JK from getting in and out

To me, The full time AWD system is very attractive for this vehicle. A tricked out Sahara with a few goodies from the Rubicon is, to me, a compelling package.
I was always very impressed with the AWD system in my 2017 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. If the MOAB came with the high line fenders, lockers and sway bar disconnect I would have looked very hard at it. I wanted newer tech, that's part of why I went JL over Jk or LJ. To me being awd would not have been a deal breaker, and I actually like how it works. However, we plan to use the JL off-road a lot, and the lockers and sway bar disconnect and d44 front and rear were th deciding factors. I don't care what sticker is on the hood, I wanted something that we could take off-road and do all the trails we wanted without needing to do a lot of aftermarket updates.

I don't knock anyone for the MOAB, it looks nice and has some cool stuff. However for me it was missing some of the core items I was looking for.

I think that Jeep has done a nice job across the product line configuring vehicles the meet the needs of a diverse group of rock crawlers and mall crawlers and everyone in between. My “perfect” Jeep would probably be a full ‘Rubicon’ with an option for full time AWD (supposedly this vehicle exists in Europe). Maybe they will bring it here (as an option...... I have read that many Rubicon fans don’t like this setup)?

I’m not sure what a configuration like that would do for anyone. Quadratrack with lockers? Maybe having the electronic sway bar disconnect would make some sense.

I never use 4WD unless I’m where I’ll be hitting a mud puddle or climbing over something. I’m in Florida, so snow driving hopefully will never be an issue. Maybe on the beach full time 4WD is better. I don’t know.

But you’re right, having a wide range of options is pretty cool. I think Jeep does a great job of giving their customers all the options they could want.

That’s why I made my lockers available anytime, even in 2wd, running through sand and mud without being in 4 lo is WAY better. It’s almost like select trac, you lock rear soon as you get off road then bld will work on front for most things, then if you get in a bind you lock front, then of course you can climb a tree if you want lol, :).

Did you use a Tazer or wire a switch directly?

I have them wired to auxiliary switches 3&4. I also have tazer with the ability, but on mine it takes longer to engage and disengage, so for now I just use the switches, more instantaneous.

Yes but it is really just short, sub standard mud tires on a Sahara and some rubi bolt on's without the lockers, transfer case and gear ratio. Why not add the rubi cosmetics and run the K02 or some other all terrains, it would make a bit more sense then. The mud tires are what puts it in the "just for looks" category. Maybe it's old age, I feel the same way about just putting a loud exhaust on civic, as opposed to modding an engine or chassis. And "Get off my lawn" LOL I live in San Diego, the yard is only a few feet long.

You don't own a Gran Torino, do you?
