@Remorseless Sweet Jeep, thanks for posting pic with specs!
That rock is known as Poser Rock for a reason. For those of us without lifts and stuff in a home shop that's our redneck RTI for figuring out how close we are to goofing the suspension lol

I was actually shocked, nobody was there dicking around when we were out last weekend, had the rock to ourselves for like 20 min. We only saw really the one Tacoma dude I mentioned that nearly took out his bedside/awning/tent on Rocky Mt Loop and a group of SxS, between like 9:30AM and 2PM.

Got over it. Built a Jeep with up travel.
That's the whole point of what I am asking, I am not wanting to just extend bump stops to keep the tires from rubbing. I am happy enough with my current up travel, and I want to maintain it with the 39s without going taller than stock XR Rubicon height.

on 9" -12 offset 4.5" backspace Methods I rubbed 315s pretty good on stock Rubi suspension with chopped fenders and the motobilt high clearance fenders in the front and HARD on the motobilt standard ones in the rear, 37s on stock suspension I have a feeling I would have had to cut a bit to clear them from the pinch welds.

When I did the RK 2.5" lift and got 3.5" I stopped rubbing the 315s and didnt touch at all on my 37s on the one shake down run but I didnt get into any real rocks.
You must have missed where I already cut the fenders and am currently running 35s at stock Rubicon height with stock wheels. I have no interest in extending my bump stops more than 2" or running much more than stock XR Rubicon ride height.

If youre willing to do the 2-2.5" of lift then yea running the 39s will be just fine especially with your current fender/liner setup. Reading through it felt more like you wanted to not do any lift and just run them with some cutting and shock package.

You may still need a further offset wheel but trying it out with the 0s wont hurt anything except maybe very limited steering kits.
I am wanting to run the 39s with essentially no lift. I am currently at stock Rubicon height, but I have XR springs I can throw on to maintain up travel if I have to add some bump stop extension.

@Mustapha Mond Love this thread, that's how I'm trying to build mine, minimal lift. 35s now and want 37s....maybe later...so much stuff to buy and modify. First post, your picture is missing.

@Remorseless Sweet Jeep, thanks for posting pic with specs!

Forgot to say, portals are a hard pass, expensive and I've seen and heard too many trail fails with them....no thanks.
Thanks for the heads up. Here's the picture that was supposed to be in the first post, hopefully it is working now.

It seems like a lot of the people on this site don't understand that adding lift doesn't allow you to run larger tires unless you also are extending the bump stops. I want to keep as close to stock bump height with the 39s as I can. I am happy with my current up travel. I will only raise the ride height to match any bump stop extension to maintain my current up travel. I have stated multiple times at this point that I am not willing to do more than 2" of bump stop extension.

I'm a bit worried about that, but we'll see. I have access to a tire machine now, so it won't cost me anything to mount the tires up and get a feel if I want to go for it or not. I got good enough deals on the wheels and tires, I am not too worried about losing money if I need to sell it all and go another direction. I am pretty sure 37s will work on my setup as-is, so I am hoping 39s won't require that many more changes. Famous last word before the snow ball starts rolling...

Here is an example of the types of builds and information I am looking for in this thread: https://www.drivingline.com/articles/on-the-low-jl-wrangler-on-40s-with-2-inches-of-lift/

No, we get it. 2" of bump should cover you for the tire you're looking at, with some trimming in the back. 2" of bump just barely clears 37s with no trimming. Just once you toss on those 2" you're losing like half your up travel on a stock 2 door Rubicon suspension, so you're going to want to toss a spring in to gain that up travel back. Those XR springs will probably net you a good amount of lift since they net a 4 door XR 1.5" over a 4 door Rubi (unless you got 2 door XR springs, which I've not seen anyone actually find and install - usually it's 4 dr springs on a 2 door for the extra lift). With a 2 door you gotta add like 0.5"-1" extra... which is a 2"-2.5" lift spring, in this case.
