I've decided to get a spacer lift and wanted to run it by the community. I've spent days reading the threads on spacers, lifts, etc, and think I got a handle on it, but I'm the kind of guy who has to do most things two or three times before getting it right. I have a 21 JLUR diesel on stock wheels and tires (33"). My winch and steel bumper have turned the rake into a hoe, so I am looking for a small lift that pulls it back up while keeping the factory ride, and a little more height is nice too for appearance and I plan to add 35s. I am a NFS volunteer and spend a lot of time on forest roads, some light off-roading, no rock crawling. The Mopar 2" lift costs $4K at local dealer and nets only 1-1.5" gain in height on Rubicon, so that doesn't pencil out for the minor improvement I'm looking for. Teraflex 1.5 looks like what I need: 2" in front, 1.5" in back, no apparent need to make other adjustments (eg, no lower control arms, regearing, what have you). Any problems with this approach? As simple as I seem to think it will be? Recommend bump stops even though it's diesel? Thanks the usual million!

You have a good handle on it. Do what you said.

I would buy some OME front coils for the weight/height you're looking for and be done with it. I wouldn't install anything else.

Thanks Aces. You would add the coils in addition to the spacers?

do it right the first time especially if you are going to go 35's and are going to drive forest service roads with any load on board. Look at an AEV 2.5 dual sport or similar lift. easy to install your self so if you were thinking of paying someone to add spacers you could just do it yourself and probably still be money ahead and have a much better set up than stock coils and spacers.

I'm not running a diesel, but I went with a Daystar 3/4" spacer F&R on my '19 JLUR 3.6 and now run 315/70R17 BFG KO2s with no issues. Rides like stock and no rubbing off road. At 50,000 I did replace my stock shocks with FOX 2.0 because the OEM rears were weeping a little.

I don't understand why everyone does this lift vs the Daystar like I started with. Both of them are similarly priced, but the Daystar kit is so much more complete. It hits Amazon regularly for 300. And it actually includes a lot of things.

No, sorry. If I were you, I'd do exactly what you're doing, with the spacers. If I were me, which I am, I'd choose Old Man Emu (OME) coils over the spacers.

OME produces really good suspension products. They make two, maybe three, front coil springs as replacements for JL/U, and the springs are designed for stock, medium and heavy weights (meaning with or without aftermarket bumpers and winches). They are designed to provide minimal height increases (50mm = 2").

What you described doing is the easiest. What I'm describing is next easiest, but I like the idea of a new spring. So, if I were you, I'd do the spacer. If I were me, which again, I am, I'd choose an OME spring that accommodates the weight/height.

That's a great looking rig. And 35s look like they got plenty of room. Surprised you didn't need leveling with that bumper and winch.

Cuz it has all sorts of scary looking pieces when you're a weenie who just wants to level things out a bit (and maybe get another inch while at it). But food for thought!

All that "scary" stuff helps to make your Jeep ride better. If you don't want to do this kit because you have to assemble the bushings and stuff, then I still recommend adding lower control arms, the Mopar ones work, and are cheap. Move the rear sway bar links forward, and get longer rear sway links. Shock extensions, and bump stops.

MOC, I'm not trying to derail your thread, but I have a question about spacer lifts.

Do they require track bar relocation/geometry correction brackets or adjustable track bars to do it correctly? I had to add those when I lifted my TJ, and am considering a lift on my JL.

Depends on how big a spacer. A 1/2-3/4" probably not (my 3/4" is fine without). A 1.5-2"+ will push the axles out noticably without an adjustable or proper sized track bar or drop brackets and caster will be out without different control arms or brackets. Same as a spring lift of the same size would do.

Bryce, Thanks. That makes sense. I just don't see 1.5 -2" spacer lifts offering relocation brcakets.

It's not something that is dependent on it being spacer vs spring, but height dependent. Standard Rubi +2" lift is the maximum I would consider without some form of correction.
