So I took my jlu in (2 years old now, can't believe it) for a rotation and oil change, and the dealer calls me back and tells me my right front sway bar end link nut is missing AND the thread on the link looks stripped. Dealer asked me if I was trying to manually disconnect (I have a sport), and I said no - they're awesome and didn't question me on it and will replace under warranty, but what could that have been from? I mean, nuts can works loose and I did have it offroad a few times over the summer, but the thread being stripped is weird. I mean, a stripped thread means someone would have had to be tinkering at it, right?

Any thoughts?

Could be that the nut was loose and came off and the threads got buggered from rubbing the sway bar. Just a guess

Yea, my story didn't end well lol

I kept putting it off until I took it into the dealer a couple months ago. I'd let it go so long that I had to replace my sway bar and end links... out of warranty at this point so it was 700 bucks. Expensive lesson.

Same thing happened to me. After Wheeling Huachaca mountain, Nut and bolt was missing from sway bar link. Had to take the other one out to get a matching bolt assembly. But to be sure, I added a nylock nut on each. I forgot all about using thread locker at the time.
