Does anyone know if the new models (25-26) have the same flaw with the sensors? While i am still waiting for my 26 MOAB 392, if the sensors have the same problem, thats the first thing I wanna do

Hi,

Believe there was a post about the newer axles using a different designed sensor.

Regards,
Jim

Per @THAW
I'm not sure whether the new sensor is potted. I doubt many people have seen the inside because it's a more robust design - molded into one piece of plastic, instead of the older design with two different plastics attached with glue.

No, the new senor is incompatible with the old axle

Thanks @Terrymo Much appreciated. Now the question is... should I drill into it or not. If its one-piece molded design, may be we dont need to pot?

I don’t have the answer. Have there been reports of failures of the new style on the forum? Or maybe @mwilk012 or @alphawolff can answer.

Not really. Even for the old design.
The PCB inside the sensor is just for filter and voltage regulation, which is not absolutely needed. I gutted one sensor, removed the bad PCB completely, wired the hall effect sensor directly to the connector pin, and then potted with NC60. Been real solid.

Attempting to pot the new version seems like an unnecessary risk; I haven't seen any evidence it fails in the same way (metal contaminated oil intrusion).

i have no idea what potting a sensor is, nor do i think bothering to screw around with it is worth it when the sensor replacement itself takes 15 minutes at most

The question is if the later style sensor appears to have a similar failure rate
