Ill take "Posts that people make that hate driving their cars" for 1000 Ken.

I guess I should have clarified... available to order. No dealer would stock a base unit unless there's a market for one.
Yeah, I think the take rate would be higher for more stripped down models if you could pick the options you want and it pop out like a vending machine or maybe even wait only a week but the instant gratification of getting what’s already there and the ease of the process likely gets a lot of people to just go ahead and get what’s right in front of them, all shiny and new…and they got to drive it.

Everybody’s idea of stripped down is a little different and I personally have a couple of options I’d want that the absolute base model wouldn’t give. That and it’s easy to finance…just a little bit more. They know that so that’s why they generally don’t stock base models. Easier process, easier money for them.

So I’ll take crank windows and minimum options. Gotta have that cold weather group though. lol

This is how you get $50k Sport models running around.

Hey, here's a whacky idea, how about lane keep assist, at least as an option?
They've had it on base Hyundai's for years, as well as all other cars that don't need it.
That's a great mentality. It's on other cars that don't need it, so let's add it to ours, where we don't need it and really, really don't want it negatively impacting things like reliability and articulation.

But hey, it's on other cars that don't need it! Add it to ours!

And the chrysler implementation of lane keep has been the ABSOLUTE worst of any Ive had the displeasure of experiencing.

My FIL's Acura has it... I make sure its off because I really dislike it. The Adaptive cruise control... now that is a nice to have.

I constantly swear my sons Civic when I drive it because its lane keep is too aggressive.

Ask @2nd 392 about ACC and get back to us.

Disclaimer: I have had very similar negative experiences with ACC, so much so that I won’t use it.

I don't have it on my own Jeep so that one might suck for all I know.
But I do enjoy my Florida trips with FIL's car because I hate hitting cruise and then coming up on that one guy that is going 1 MPH slower than me... :asshat:

I use the hell out of it, especially in the work car where it works well even in stop and go traffic. You still have to pay attention and be ready to take over in an instant. One day it was raining so hard that the vehicle in front of me became invisible to the radar. Would the car have rearended them if I wasn't paying attention? Absolutely. Not only did I see the car closing on the one in front of me, the dash display showed no vehicle in front of me. You can't blame the tech because you use it as an excuse to zone out. YOU'RE STILL DRIVING!

Brand new stock Wranglers wander. Before the steal box it was down right dangerous. The steel boxes and software updates improved it. The 2024 got more software and other updates, although I haven't found anyone to tell me what the other updates are and now 99% of the wander is gone, but the steering still isn't precise and it definitely can be without IFS.
Software has no effect on steering wandering or play. Software only controls the electro-mechanical pump, which was having overheat issues and shutting down.

The first iteration of the steel/iron steering gear box was a great improvement. Of course, it came after at least one or more revisions of the aluminum box.

The TSB for the steel/iron box had a prerequisite of having a revised trackbar installed. The trackbar bushings in the first couple years (2018-19) were all over the place in terms of Shore hardness. Some were adequate, some were way too soft and let the axle shift when the steering input pushed the draglink, rather than change(steer) the angle of the knuckles. This was usually only noticed at higher speeds where the tires act like giant gyroscopes and resist changing (steering) direction, which puts the steering forces into the trackbar bushings.

And finally, the OEM balljoints are a problem area, with their teflon lined sockets. Replacing them with Dynatrac or Metalcloak balljoints is the considered the best route.

Like many other things on Wranglers the ACC is apparently inconsistent. Mine is horribly abrupt, all stop or full speed ahead. If someone pulls between me and the followed vehicle it slams on the brakes to get the distance back, inviting others to also pull in front of you again slamming the brakes, repeat until you are going 35 in the fast lane. .. If they get out of in front of me hang on, it’s getting back to the set speed and distance NOW I only use it in open road, light traffic situations.

The pressure is variable and adjusts based on driver input, speed and steering angle. The entire point of the multiple inputs and software control is to affect steering, why else would programming affect steering, if not to improve it? If not programing, what did they do to the steering in 2024 to improve it?
