It’s all about the what if’s.There is 1 Jeep that tows relatively substantial loads well. My gladiator has no issues even at 8200lbs (a bit over ratings). Towed this thing 600 miles without issues including mountain passes and 20+ miles of desert washboard dirt roads. If you need to tow really heavy you need a 2500-3500 and preferably diesel, but then it's not off road worthy for shit. Obviously it's not the brakes as the gladiator is effectively the same there.![]()
By this I mean an emergency evasive maneuver, God forbid you had to deal with a:
Obstacle at high speed
An animal
Blown tire, etc.
Jeeps aren’t known for their stability on roadways. Their wheel house is off roading.
Manufactures apply those towing limits for a reason.
