Ok my JL is 1 week old and this has happened to me at least 5 times. Shut off leave car for about 5 mins and just will not crank wait about 5 minutes trying several times and then will finally start. Go figure!!, Called service and they did not hear about this problem. When you try to do it again works fine, but then when you least expect it nothing and you just have to wait for whatever the problem is to clear. At least it does not happen when it shuts down at a light or stop sign only when you shut off with button and then try to restart. Hope somebody finds the answer to this one soon. Thanks Joe
I'll bet this is related to electrical .

+1 here happened when new in the dealership parking lot, once at a gas station a few weeks later and tonight start stop works just fine it's when you manually turn it off it will randomly not start got it end of May and have 5500 miles. Tonight was a 15 Mile drive in the country, but was new less than 8 miles the first time.

Might want to get it in the shop before you are stranded and it won't start back up like mine.

I was going to park it in front of their shop doors but someone else had already taken that spot. Lol They told me they had to push it into the shop because it wouldnt start. So I guess I lucked out when it did start for me.

One thing I have noticed is that it now takes a longer time before the auto shut off kicks in. Prior to that as soon as I stopped at a light it almost immediately shut off. Now there is a few seconds before it shuts off.

Unreal that a car that costs as much as these has an issue where it leaves folks stranded.

2nd time the jeep didn't start (and 1 more time that I recreated the scenario and it didn't start so total of 3).

It says push brake in and push button to start but doesnt start.

It flashes service transmission. Continue in D. Do not shift or turn off engine. It also flashes stability control and blind spot disabled.

It will restart in 5 mins or less. All errors are gone and everything is fine.

I realized it happened when I exited the jeep and then quickly got back in to start it. It has never happened when I turn off the car and then restart without getting out. For that reason I was thinking it was something with the key fob not being recognized.

Today after it happened I restarted, moved it, shut it down and got out then got back in. I waited a few seconds and then pushed the start button and it started right up. I then repeated this but quickly got in and pushed the button. After doing that 2 times it didn't start and I had to wait for it to cycle.

It still could be electrical but I'm leaning more toward it is system error with either reading the key fob or with some internal diagnostics the computer is going through.

I figure I would try to make it happen again and if I can then switch key fobs. If it happens with both maybe will change the fob battery to eliminate that possibility.

Obviously this is an issue and needs to be corrected. BTW is there someone I should contact so it is logged and Jeep can stop saying they know nothing about it.l?

Yep , Mike Manley , FCA's CEO . That'll be your best bet . ( Unless HIS JL won't start and he is stranded somewhere .)

:like: lol.

I hate a business stating I never heard of that happening even after showing them many reports. Corporate and Dealers should be sharing information back and forth so any problem is known across the country.

GM is the same. My corvette had known issues which the dealer said they never heard about.

On a good note enough people speak up it's hard to hide now with the internet.

Yep , the caught-ones are the ones trying to hide . I heard a funny comment in the Army : " There are the caught-ones , and the not-yet-caught-ones ."

yes. why cant I press the button one time and it stays off until I push it again. the fog lights even do that.
Even better , why cannot ESS never be installed in the first place ? Likely only a lunatic would have even thought of installing it in the first place .

Ok was having same problem with not starting but I think I figured out my problem. Sometimes after shutting down engine and getting back in there is an unusual amount of back pressure on the brake pedal so although I am pressing down hard on brake pedal it is not moving much and that's when it wont start, but pushing down a little harder and it always starts. Hope this helps some of you it has for me. Still have appointment to be checked. I also have the steering wandering problem to have looked at. First appointment not till aug 23 and made over a week ago..Geeze

do you get all the error messages or it just wont start? I think that is the differentiator.
