For the past 2 mornings I've had a hard time starting the Jeep.
Everything seems normal, doors shut, in park, parking brake on, seat belt on, foot on the brake pedal.

The brake pedal feels firmer than normal.

After going through the normal ritual, I pushed abnormally hard on the brakes and it starts right up....

Anybody else have this issue, or even better a solution??
Thanks for reading..

Sounds like your not triggering the sensor under the brake pedal. Doesn't look like there is adjustment, just a relearn.

I assume it softens up a little with the engine running. Give this a shot, next time you turn off the Jeep, do it with your foot off of the brake pedal.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot, do you think that the remote battery might be going bad?
Just got it in October...

It will normally tell you in the cluster.

The brake pedal will firm up with the engine off. Two possible reasons: You've depressed the brake pedal with the engine off and bled off the vacuum in the brake booster through movement of the pedal. Or, the brake booster has a leak.

The vehicle wants your foot on the brake to start it. It needs to see the brake switch open (or closed, I forget which)--point is, you need sufficient pressure to change the position of the switch.

You might have an issue with the brake switch (they're usually plastic and can break, or the contacts inside start corroding). You might have a vacuum leak in the brake booster. Report back and let us know what you find.

Great point.

I looked on all data, and it looks like the current brake switch is more of a rheostat than the old plunger style. (I'm assuming the "brake light switch" performs the interlock task).

Took it by the dealer, it's not throwing any codes, I did replace the remote battery, and I realized that I had left the jeep quickly a few times with it still running and had to reach in to shut it off.

I also replaced the remote battery and had to start the Jeep by pressing the start button with the remote.

Making sure that I sit in the Jeep and shut down with my foot on the brake.

I'll be sure to post any updates, service app is Thursday AM...

I have had this issue once. I was running errands and after the 4th stop at a store it would not start. The break pedal was unusually hard to press when trying to start. I had to press it really hard and it started.

Make sure the screws are tight and the brake pedal sensor is not loose. If it's still not reliable, I'd just replace the sensor.
