Arc/Sparked Battery - Jeep won't start

Just upgraded my 2.0L 2020 JLU Rubicon OEM battery system to the Gen 3 Genesis Dual Battery System. While installing the second and last Negative cable, my rachet touched the Positive post causing a sparked/arc. After kicking my ass for not paying attention...I’m pretty sure I blew a fuse somewhere as it won’t start now. Even though, all the accessories seem to be working fine and the battery menu display 12.4 volts, the brakes pedal is hard AF, the wipers are parked on the up position, and the Jeep won’t start, even pressing the remote start. I can hear some source of clicking/electronic buzz sound, but nothing happens.

Any help will be appreciated…

Check the N3 fuse/fusable link. You likely blew that when you arced.

If blown, you will need to replace the entire fuse block. Mopar part #68368853AA

Watch this video from the 4:05 minute mark to see how to change the fuse block.

Which connection points did the wrench contact/short?

If your Genesis Dual Battery system is installed per the directions - i.e. with the factory ESS/Aux battery positive connector attached to the factory start battery positive connector - a blown N3 fuse won't prevent the vehicle from starting.

I may be overlooking something, but I can't figure a way you'd blow factory fuses by dropping a wrench on the Genesis setup. Consider this: you removed and reseated the entire PDC (fuse box) so your starting issue could stem from that part of the process.

If blown, you will need to replace the entire fuse block. Mopar part #68368853AA

Looks like the OP has the tow package so that's the wrong part number for the high amp fuse array. 68368854AA has the 100 A fan fuse.

@THAW, yes and yes...I do have the tow pkg and I did follow their instructions all the way through. I touched the pos/neg of the Aux battery. So, if I understood correctly, you are suggesting going back, remove everything and restart with resetting the PDC.

On a side note, since my cheap multimeter doesn't read continuity, I have not been able to check if N3 is blown or not.

Based on my understanding of your posts, the most likely current path was effectively through only the wrench (and possibly some Genesis wiring) in which case it's unlikely factory fuses blew.

Did you encounter any resistance when reassembling your PDC? Did you seat the 4 connectors into the PDC base and then place the PDC fuse tray on top and hear ("satisfying") clicking into place when you tightened the screw posts? Prior to resorting to disassembly, you might be able to do some voltage and ground continuity testing from the tops of the PDC fuses (with the ignition in the START position) to get some idea if the PDC plugs are fully seated. Obviously, you'd need to acquire a device to test continuity.

Guys, this issue has been resolved :handsinair:. Thank you both for your input :fist bump:. Unsure what the fix was, but after removing the fuse array and checked for continuity, all the fuses read okay. I reinstalled it and reconnected everything as should be. Jumped into the cabin, pressed the brake pedal hard the start button at the same time...wuala, it started right away. Assuming I was trying to be too cautious pressing the break pedal from the beginning. Everything seems to be working okay, battery is at 14 V, wipers went down to position and remote start works as it should. :rock:
