Why are knuckle lights never discussed or installed?

Moose eyes are reflective... they're just taller than the headlight beam typically and so the light doesn't catch the reflective layer in their eyes.

Hmm. I've wondered if that's the reason. I've never seen them glow/reflect light, and they often come to the road to lick the salts (with a lowered head). I've asked people that have lived here 40+ years, and their experience is the same.

I wonder what it takes to get them to reflect or if it's a light frequency thing. Headlamps don't (I run into a lot of moose walking my dog in winter). I mention light frequency because I was once camping in Texas, turned on my LED headlamp, and the grass looked like it was covered in dew. Looking closely, it was all spiders. Tried an old incandescent headlamp; no reflection at all.

Watching that video, I am not sure if they would help you drive faster on wooded roads around deer. It's hard to tell, for they aimed them to light up the ground not down the road.

You could always try them and see if they work for you. I mean, they don't cost that much. If they don't, you could probably sell them for 50-80% of the price on here or facebook. If they work for you, you could write a followup here.

Good tip on how to run the wires. If your brake lines snag and rip, you've probably got bigger problems than the exposed wires.

So you use them offroad when you're following someone so that your headlights don't blind the car in front? Do you find them more useful than changing the fogs to one with a different reflector/lens for a better illumination zone? Does the fact they turn with your wheels help, or is it more just a "stealth light" option?

I don't like A-pillar/cowl lights because I spend too much of the year cleaning snow off my hood, and every tall bump/protrusion hinders that.

Yeah. They are a lot less blinding to the person in front of me. The fact they turn I do find helpful in spots. The lights do cross a bit to overlap and make up for any tire blockage. I run a high offset wheel so the light is not far from the tire and wheel.

I don't have fogs in my bumper anymore because of running a stubby. I do use the knuckle lights as fogs and dim them down a bit on the street. Never had an issue with cops and pass 10-12 every day.
