So far in 6 years apparently not a whole lot.

Some would say less than the v6
All joking aside, the 2.0 seems to be a good engine and people are definitely right about the altitude stuff. Besides, us Pentastar and turbo owners really need to remain united against the 4XE crowd.

I own a ‘24 JLRX, 3.6 HT.
Out in Winter Park, CO for a few days to visit my daughter and rented a Jeep to have here. I got a ‘23 JLU Sahara HT w 2.0T, base model level trim.
Radical differences. Yes, my payments are a lot higher than if I’d bought something like that. Hundreds I’m sure.
Don’t miss the money. I do miss the 4WD H auto on the wet/icy mountain pass roads. No Off-Road+, tiny antiquated looking display and navigation, highway tires, no sound insulation. No lockers. And I miss the 3.6, the sound is way better- Jeeps shouldn’t whine. The owners do that enough, lol. Plastic bumpers, no winch…
Take my money, gimme the goodies.
It's almost like the Rubicon is the off-road trim and the Sahara is the look nice for the urban cowboy/ wine mom trim. Crazy...

After I posted this I realized I may have been trolled, well played sir.

The point is made though in the fact that this reality is a surprise. It's great that the 2.0l is proving to be a solid engine...but there are a lot of us who are not interested in being the ones who learn that first hand. We'll wait until small turbo motors in big vehicles are as commonplace and as old as small-block V8s are now.

The fact that this argument continues really should show all of us just how widely opinions and approaches differ between different people. I know i've been very surprised by how many JL owners just are not phased by the evil racket the 2.0l puts out...I can't imagine living with that yet so many guys don't even notice. So that's one thing i've learned.

To be honest, I've got a 2.0, have owned a 3.6, also currently own the 3.6-derived 3.2, AND have a 3.6 JT on order - so I'm not really biased one way or the other - and really the noises they make aren't so different, aside from the obvious turbo noises when driving. The valvetrains in both engines are noisy. Modern engines, whatchagondo? Keep up with your oil changes, run good gas, party on Wayne.

Perfect example of what i'm talking about. I could not disagree more. To me, the difference in noise between the two engines is MASSIVE. Now keep in mind, i'm not just talking volume...if you are just speaking on volume then yeah there's not that big of a difference. It's a combination of all factors - volume is one, but pitch, tone, rhythm, and location...all combine to create a sum total racket that I just cannot take.

But i've heard plenty of owners echo your opinion on the subject. Seems crazy to me...but that's just me.

No, I'm talking the whole gamut of sound. Find it to be broadly similar, even switching back and forth between vehicles. Injector noises and valves clickity clacking away. An injector sounds like an injector in both, and a valve sounds like a valve in both.

To be honest, I find the wife's Hemi to be a more raucous valvetrain than either engine, and hers doesn't even have Hemi Tick, running quiet (for a Hemi).

They’re both quiet as a churchmouse compared to a 4Runner at start-up.

Then we just greatly disagree.

Interesting point about the hemi though - my 5.3l 2021 Silverado is definitely louder than my 2010 5.3l Tahoe was...lots of that drivetrain thrashing you mention. That said, the Silverado manages to be significantly quieter than either the 3.6l or 2.0l Wrangler. I also have a Cadillac powered by GM's 2.0l Turbo motor, and it's a lot quieter than both Wrangler motors...but that really should be the case being a Cadillac and all.

Shit let's not even talk about the 4.0. Swear to God my XJ sounded like it was about to send a rod through the block for its whole life. Nothing wrong with it, but hot damn, the average JL GenPoper could not handle the noises the 4.0 made.
