In this case Bumpstops go with shock extensions and factory shocks. It protects the shocks from bottoming out before the Bumpstops hit. Just putting in coil spacers doesn’t affect this. If you don’t put in shock extensions you don’t need bumpstop extensions.
thanks. From what it sounds like, having the rubi shocks helps here since they are longer. But if I was starting on an actual rubi, I'd probably need the extensions/bumpstops more?

No, the Rubi has the same suspension height as all other models (bigger tires and highline fenders make them look taller). It would need all the same as yours they just put longer shocks on a Rubi to get more droop especially the front where you have the swaybar disconnect. The collapsed length of Rubi shocks are the same as the others they just extend farther.

Wait, how does the rubi have the same suspension height as other models like the sport/sahara? I thought they came with higher springs, giving it a higher ride height/lift?

While most components are the same, there is plenty of documentation here of at least some difference in ride height between trims purely due to springs.

Nope, same suspension height all models. Only the XR has 1.5” lift and the 392 has 1” 392 XR has 1.5” lift.
This is the average suspension height of all models.

The number of different JL springs is bizarre. All trims will fall within the
Average suspension height (I have measured many on the dealers lots). Hence the diagram I provided. But it’s easy to get lift on a base Sport using loaded Sahara or Rubi springs merely from the higher spring rate.
Like the JK model there is no documentation from Jeep that the JK or JL Rubicons have lift over other trims.

Please just do it (spacers) already. You can (did) talk this to death.

On the topic of the sway bar quick disconnects - you can budget for those later if you want to.

On non-Rubicons, it's two 18mm bolts/nuts. One has a lock washer, so it's a bit easier to remove. When you go off-roading, just make sure you have an 18mm socket and an 18mm wrench, and some zip-ties to secure the bar up and out of the way. They're not *tremendously* hard to do manually when you go out, just a bit of a pain (and can be messy to put back on, depending on how much mud you go through).

Also, if you have/get the OEM steel front bumper with the removable wings, or a stubby bumper, that'll also make it significantly easier to get to them. I always used to slice my arms up trying to work around the ends of the stock plastic bumper.

right so why did you say the rubicon is the same lift height? Im getting super confused now. People buy rubi spring takeoffs for a lift because they are higher I thought.

gotcha. Detaching the sway is usually what you want to do if you want max articulation, right?

Rubis are the same suspension height but because they and the Sahara can be much heavier with options they require much heavier spring rate springs. Putting these heavier springs on a lighter Sport is like putting 3/4ton truck spring on a 1/2ton truck. The Sport will sit higher because it doesn’t weigh enough to compress the heavier springs to proper ride height and tend to ride harsher due to the stiff springs.

Gotcha. So by suspension height you mean for the actual components themselves (judging from the diagram you posted). The only thing is even bare bones rubis still sit higher than bare bones sports/willys/saharas. And many lift kits say the non-rubicon models will lift 1-2" higher than a rubicon model.. that can't just be because of tires and high rise fenders? I'm talking if all the models had the same options (plastic bumpers, all hard tops, tires, etc)

That’s just because some lift companies don’t do their research. To be honest a bare Sport will get more lift from a aftermarket lift kit then a Rubi for the same reason I just mentioned. The Rubi is heavier and will compress the springs more. Some of the better lift companies do offer heavier springs for higher optioned models and 392/diesel/4xe specific.
For comparison. Jeep Mopar determine the proper lift kit by motor size not model/trim. They make 3 2” lift kits for the 4dr. 1- 2.0L 4cyl, 2- 3.6L, 3-diesel, 392, 4Xe. All for different weight to achieve the same final height.

Gotcha. I wasn't aware the rubi was actually heavier all around... makes sense now. But in terms of our convo before... the spacers will bring the ride height to ~stock rubi height... thus making it ok to still use the rubi shocks? At the end of the day, it sounds like I'll still have decent travel since I have the rubi shocks on a willys.
