Just wondering if this is a common occurrence or just an issue with my JLU, but ever since I have owned my new Rubicon I have had TERRIBLE radio reception. I realize that a large amount of people will just use Carplay or Bluetooth for music...but sometimes I take a quick trip and forget my phone or just want to listen to the radio. Extremely static/white noise/terrible reception for nearly every station. Also, I live in Houston, TX so its a major city, i'm not in the middle of the wilderness.
Anyone else? Potential fix?

I'm in Houston as well and have the same issue, figured it's just what I got for getting the base radio. Please update if you end up finding a solution.

I have the same issue...it seems to improve a bit after driving. But every vehicle I have has never had an issue with radio reception. The XM works fine, but the FM seems to get loud, then quiet over and over. The antenna is tight and I will check behind the glove box tonight to look for anything unusual. It is very annoying though.

If anyone finds a solution, through dealer or otherwise, please let me know.

Loud and then quiet FM is ā€œHD Radioā€ going in and out. My GM does this, too. Not sure if UConnect has a setting to disable HD? Iā€™m still in D status, so I ant check...

If you want to work with the dealer, we can certainly help with that. We're available via direct message and will need your VIN to get started. Very sorry for any inconvenience or frustration this has caused.

Yesterday, I opened a support request with uconnect and they gave me the following instructions...so far so good, but the issue was a bit intermittent. I really wish I would have waited for a time when it was happening, then perform the soft reset. Pretty unorthodox way to do a soft reset on the radio. For anyone else who has the issue...see below.

I want to address this further with you. I would like to request that
you perform a soft reset of the radio. Below I have outlined the steps:

Step 1. Turn on the vehicle
Step 2. Press and hold the phone button and VR button for 30 seconds
release buttons and turn off the vehicle
Step 3. Open the driver side door and leave open for 30 seconds
Step 4. Close door and restart vehicle.
Step 5. See is concern is still present

Just got my Jl Rubicon Friday, dealer told me on inspection that sat radio does not work. Fm sometimes does not get reception at all or it comes and goes

@digger

Just so your understand the setup...

The satellite receiver on the JL and the AM/FM radio antenna are two different animals.

You have a mast antenna that is solely for AM/FM reception.

As far as Sirius/XM satellite radio, the "satellite radio receiver" is what is used for SiriusXM reception.

DO KNOW that MANY JL/JLU owner's here have posted that SiriusXM reception is very poor in regard to their vehicle.

On the Wrangler JK and JL, the "satellite radio receiver" for use with SiriusXM resides up on top of the sound bar/roll bar, just above and behind the passenger.

Whaaat??? That's effin' ridiculous! Mine works just fine. There is a TSB out concerning the software for the Infotainment system though. It can be fixed at the dealer thru a software re-flash I believe.

Iā€™ve yet to find a fix. Contacted Jeep and they have no recalls or any sort of fix. I contacted my dealership and they wanted to keep my JL for several days. I was made aware of some sort of reset but it did not work. Still just waiting to see if anything comes out from Jeep.

What options did your dealership give you?

Mitch ... that update is not for the 8.4 Infotainment Center. It is for the 4 and 7 radio only.

Read the TSB...it addresses the static and cut outs that some are experiencing with UConnect.
