Only apparent change is the full floating rear axle.

Kind'a shoots down the "too short, inadequate brakes ,etc. bla, bla" argument why you SHOULD NOT under any circumstances tow more than 3k lbs with a pre 2024 Wrangler...but I'm sure Chicken Little is watching intently in the shadows...lol

I'm not sure where you got that 3k number (3.5k, right?).

From what I understand the 392 and 4xe are still stuck at the 3.5k limit due to their weight. I'm thinking that our diesels would suffer the same fate.

Here's another thought...if you are worried about overloading the rear, use a load distributing device to shift more weight to the front.

Check out this old advertisement from EZ-Lift installed on a Oldsmobile Toranado...

AND...if you are worring about tow capacity on the Wrangler...you can always just pull your trailer with a bicycle!!

Its been 5000 in Europe for years without floating axle. Will it be 6500 now? Who knows.
Europe generally restricts towing vehicles to 100KPH (62MPH) so they can have heavier loads safely.

If the axle was the entire thing holding back towing numbers, wonder what the boys and girls with Dana 60s & 80s can tow..

on The build sheet on my 2024 Rubicon it states a Class II Receiver, which is only capable of 3500 lbs. I was a little disappointed when I read that. So axle be damned, evidently the engineers forgot to upgrade the Receiver.

It's 3.5 because of the receiver and possibly frame from what I had read/understood And the axle can bear higher. I think they have the safety/idiot proofing in the ratings so that they avoid lawsuits.

There are always people who will say, "I only had 4500 on it, barely a thousand over, they should expect customers to have leeway in their towing!" Then they sue for 20million for loss of income potential and hardship due to external pressure and internal stress of dealing with having their axle fixed at a shop. Truly traumatic in 2023. A soft Judge who happens to be their half uncle in-friend-law says, "Well, these vehicles should have some expected leeway in ratings, I award you 5 million". Only needs to happen once in 10 years for them to cut rating down for safety and financial cost savings. Exaggerated, sure, but it wouldn't surprise me in this day and age with how people are for it to be something similar.

And to the Europe under 62mph tow rating at 5k, most of us(I think) don't drive all that much higher anyway ? especially in EU

I towed a 3.5K camper with my '21 Sahara when I first got it. Only went ~2hrs down the road, but it was a terrible experience, and that's with the tow package that includes the HD brakes.

Most notably, my MPG dropped to around 10 MPG, lol. No thanks.

The problem with these vehicles is a combination of the short wheelbase and taller stance. If someone desires to tow heavy loads, such as 5K plus, you're better off having a dedicated tow vehicle. Myself, I have a 20 year old diesel pickup. My JL and JK with tow packages have no difficulty towing smaller loads such as snowmobiles or wave runners or small campers etc.

Yeah, I should have checked my build sheet before asking. It's Class II and 2", which according to what I'm reading, should be a Class III.

I wish my build sheet extractor was still working so I could easily check the various combinations of build sheets.

392 or 4xe with 3.5k limit?

3.6L with automatic Trans. Supposed to be 5k#. At least that is what Jeep is saying.
