Lots of different types of jeepers, eh? I like seeing what others piss money away on. Makes me feel ok about piss in my money away on toys too. Keep it up fellas, no harm in Givin a little hard time, just so you can take what you give. Great forum though. I liked the one guy who said it ain't no submarine!
Keep in mind these dealers typically sell a wide ranging type of vehicles , so to expect them to know as much as us geeked up jeep fans is unfair .

As for the all weather mats they should fit snug and not flop around. The all weather mats in my JK did shift around as it was not the best design. The JL they do not move at all when the plug is seated firmly into the drain hole.

Did you install the mats yourself of have the dealer do it? Have you removed the mats to make sure they did it properly? I know you saw the video posted previously on the install so I am assuming you have already checked this.

If the mats are shifting / moving when installed it sounds like the nipple in the bottom of the floor mat is not pushed into the drain hole. If it is I cannot understand how it is moving around. There is also the latch point where the mat pops / snaps into the carpet. Is this possibly broken and allowing the mat to shift in position?

Just tossing out some thoughts / things to double check as they should NOT be moving around at all when installed.

Hey,
Thanks again for joining in on this
I was trying to be clear about the amount of water. There are a lot of replies to this tread where folks are saying a dribble is not water. To a Jeep is not water tight. To what do you expect?
Just keep the drain plug in place.

What I’m trying to point out is to the average person who buys a JLUR with the all weather floor mats. Bring this to their attention and get a conversation going on what others are experiencing.
Are the floor mats supposed to make a water tight fit like the drain plug does?
If not why is there not some sort of instruction saying to put the drain plug back into the floor pan. Remember most folks won’t know about doing this.

Common sense with many folks? Not everyone has experience like others nor common sense when it comes to water crossings or off roading.

Do I have sommon sense? Yes, I put the drain plug back into the floor pan where it belongs.

Yet, when you watch all of the YouTube videos of installing these floor mats no one is making a warning about, Hey, be careful, if you pull that drain plug out and put it into that floor mat and do any water crossings your brand new JL is going to fill with water as if you did not have the drain plug installed.
Try to remember there are thousands of folks out there who have never off roaded, they buy a part or product and have no ideal of how it works. We have all been this person at some point and time in our life. They read the instructions and install it.
The whole point of my post is to bring attention to the fact there maybe another Mopar product design flaw like with their 2” lift.

We are doing a big bear run this weekend.
I’ll take a video and post it on YouTube of my grab handles hitting the windows.
Unfortunately I’m always in the middle or tail end of the group because I end up do the spotting most all of the time. If I left my windows down the inside of my Jeep would look like a sand trap.

Here is a photo of my JLUR, it will only see dirt for the time I own it.
We leave on the 8th for Utah. I’m gone at least a week every month for an off road trip.

I went through water that was fairly (well above the bottom of the door at approximately 5mph last Memorial Day weekend AT AOAA in Pennsylvania. I had absolutely no muddy water on the inside of of my JLUR.

The Jeep All Weather floor mats seal fine if done right! The mat works as the seal through the carpet to the floor pan and then the original floor pan seal pops into the rubber mat and seals that from leaking foot water or spilled coffee crap. It stays dry in mild water crossing and winter at least. I guess Weather Tech might have been simpler if they existed when I got my JLU? Yes then the floor plugs coulda stayed under the carpet.

If I find it starts to leak (shouldn't) I'll put the plugs back in the floor pan and let the All Weather Jeep rubber mats flop around! Like what I got now and the work fine, don't flop, don't leak from on top or under, carpets all dry.

Go Jeep!!!

I can't even drive through an automatic car wash without feeling some light spray come through the doors... I haven't driven through deep water yet, but based on the car wash experience, I would know better :giggle:

Got quite a bit of water in mine this past weekend. Thankfully there's a section under the rear seats that is slightly elevated, otherwise I would have a Kentucky Fried Amp and Subwoofer combo. This is the first time this has happened. I've been water fording quite a few times and I have the all-weather mats. This pit was admittedly a little deeper than what I've usually been going through. Lesson learned.

What sucks is that the mud pit we drove through smelled like shit. I had the carpet cleaned yesterday at the car wash and all is well.

It is a shame that someone can't express what he considers an issue without getting trashed.

As a service writer that works at a Jeep dealer, the JL is water tight. I’ve seen it with my own eyes during our product training. The problem I think some are having with their floor mats is that where the drain hole goes into the floor most aren’t pushing down on to “snap” it into place. I have the all weather floor mats in my JL, and have done this and I actually struggle removing them when I want to take my mats out to vacuum. It definitely should be water tight especially if you put the little rubber cap over the hole

Am I missing something here...? OF COURSE the JL isn't water tight, NO VEHICLE IS unless it's specifically designed to turn into a submarine...

That's what the drain holes are for.

I was never able to get my factory floor mats to seal in such a way that it made me comfortable, so I put the drain plugs back in and just know for myself that if I ever "need" to let water out, I have a way to do so. Other than that, the plugs stay in the floor...not the mats. If there is a trick to getting them to seal properly, I'm open to suggestions.

Hey folks,

I can’t make this shit up if I tried.
I bring my JLUR into a dealership this morning to get the Mopar correction pad installed due to the screw up in design on the Mopar 2” lift. There is a tread on here regarding the all weather floor mats not making a tight seal and during a water crossing that the Jeep JL can fill with water if you have them installed per the instructions. I asked the services writer if he can confirm this is not making a tight seal, I showed him how the floor mat is lose around the drain floor hole.
His reply is priceless, this is per a dealership service advisor at a Jeep dealership, the JL is not water tight, the door seals are not water tight and if you go into water you should expect your JL to fill with water!
The advisor advised me that unless FCA / Jeep send him something in writing stating otherwise you should expect the JL to fill with water during a water crossing. He will not inspect the floor mats!

If this is the case than a lot of the advertising for the new JL is false and misleading at best.

Has anyone else experience this at a Jeep dealership?
Did you know if you go into water with your jeep you should expect it to fill with water?
The Mopar snorkel works, you should expect to get water inside during a water crossing! Per this Jeep advisor!

Considering I come from doing a ton of off roading in jeeps, this was news to me, I have done hundreds of water crossings in my TJ and all of my buddies and club members in their JKs. We have never experienced water coming into the vehicle during any water crossings.

Right here is one of the main reasons I have always stayed with the high end brand vehicles. (Range Rover, Jaguar, Mercedes, Ferrari and Lamborghini.) I feel like the folks who work at the lower end brands are not all there. If you work at a Jeep dealership and this offends you I’m sorry, it is not meant to, go get a job at a high end dealership and you will clearly notice the difference in service and the folks who work there. If they don’t know something they go and find out. They don’t make statements that could result in a problem with a customer.

I contacted Jeep care on this form and over the phone. Over the phone they tried to get ahold of the dealership and was unable to speak with anyone, they advised that I contact the dealership manager, try and set another appointment and contact Jeep care when that appointment has been set.
Another words waste more of my time!

@JeepCares

Hi, I read the part where you said, “Mopar correction pad installed due to the screw up in design on the Mopar 2” lift”, what are the doing about that? I have one and have heard nothing!
Did you have it fixed and was it corrected? Can you give me the information so I can pursue the fix, thanks .
