Also finally swapped out the control board on my rock slide engineering side steps. The passenger side wouldn’t open fully or sometimes at all if the car was off. The folks at RSE sent me a new control board that did the trick. Had to remove the entire step to replace it though.

They also sent me some rubber bump stops so now my driver side step doesn’t slam loudly when it closes back up.

Lastly, I rearranged some of my wiring. I installed a kill switch (sent by RSE free of charge) so I don’t have to pull the fuse everytime to reset them anymore.

I also installed a RF controller to my winch and rock lights and air compressor. This allows me to program my two extra garage openers on my visor to send power to the winch and rock lights and air compressor pretty nifty
What does it take to swap that board out? I got steps installed on our Wrangler this weekend (with help of a friend) and today finished up wiring, sensors, magnets, etc. and the driver side works fine, but the right side no longer works at all. It sort of worked a couple of times, just a little bit - the right side never did go through the calibration bits of down, up, down, up. Now it doesn't work at all.
Motor is fine - I can connect a battery to the motor terminals after unplugging it from the harness and the right side goes down, switch polarity and it goes back up (FAST, and with a bang, the driver side is smooth and quiet)

I'm sure the right step has to come off the Jeep completely- but how difficult is it from there?

Her Jeep looks nice with these on it - but the steps gotta work by Tuesday and she's driving a friend to a monthly get-together. Her friend is short, and not the best of health.

Gotta take the step off, not too difficult

from the Youll see the actuator arm held on one side with a c clip. Remove the c clip and disconnect the actuator arm.

from there there are four bolts that hold the control board and actuator arm, remove the four bolts and the control board bracket lifts out. Then remove the screws holding the white control board, replace the control board and it all goes back together the opposite of how it came off.About 19 minutes total after you get the step off

THANKS! That's a great "how to".
My wife asked again early this morning "is my Jeep going to be ready for tomorrow" and I told her - that's the plan.

I installed this map light.

It's not worth a C-note (and the plethora of "Vine Customer Review of Free Product" posts is a bit disheartening), but a family member sponsored 50% of the cost as an early birthday gift, so I gave in and clicked Buy Now.

On to the install:

While made in China, the light appears to be a product of a Japanese company. The build quality is decent enough, as are the instructions (English was on the reverse side of the pictured document.) An alcohol wipe and nylon safety strap is included. The latter is intended to anchor the light to the rear view mirror stalk via a molded-in loop at the bottom of the battery compartment.

The light requires three N batteries, which appear to be AAAs that shrunk in the wash. I added a label so as to determine how long they last under normal use.

Initial test ok. The LEDs have a soft start & shutoff function, gradually getting brighter or dimmer in turn.

I hedged my bet by scientifically adding several micro-drops of Krazy Glue to the perimeters of the three 3M adhesive pads that secure the light assembly in place.

I don't know if I'm going to retain the nylon strap, or replace it with a small zip tie. I'll consult with my OCD and revisit the matter later.

By itself, and IMO, the light assembly could easily pass for OEM.

The LEDs are just bright enough to peruse a portion of a paper map in a dark interior. I suppose the modest lumens are a function of the voltage provided by the esoteric N batteries. It's good enough for my requirements.

If you've read this far, please accept this domestic light beer, with my compliments.

JLU is my daily driver so I initially installed 265 70r17 for MPGs. However, now years later decided to finally get some Rubicon takeoff 285 70r17 (sold my 265 70r17 tires)

Installed the Brawlee RGB Silicone Light Bar. Installed on/off switch from my KC lights that I did not use. Pretty easy install, however I had to splice/extend the wires to reach the plug location where the other hardtop disconnects are located.

I've been thinking about doing this. How did you fish the wire through the hardtop?
