Installed the M.O.R.E. Dead Pedal. Definitely not fun.
In addition to the body contortions needed to just attach it, I had to lengthen both pre-drilled holes in the aluminum support brace to make it work. Getting a drill in there is a PITA, and there’s a small wire loom behind the aluminum...
The Willys X with the white wheels reminds me of this Bronco I saw on Friday. I’d never buy one - my XR is in the background - but it looked really good.
Added the Warn PIK for my winch thanks to @missionale ahis nice write up here.
Might move the PIK’s ground wire off battery, but I have e-torque, so not really concerned.
I’m not loving the wiring in general, but it will get redone when I add the Genesis system and an sPOD.
Problem solved.
Took off the front passenger fender to route the wires. Warn PIK will get installed next weekend hopefully.
Also took off the grill and did this. Northridge 4x4 JL Grill Hack. I have the front trail cam, so I had to disconnect a few wires they don’t mention. After I...
This is my project for later this week. Seems straightforward.
Did you do the entire thing on jacks on leave it on the ground for most of it? (It looks like the frame needs to be lifted a bit to get them into the front mounts.)
It’s ok, he’s just making sure he lives up to his username.
And my mistake allowed another forum member to pickup a new winch for dirt cheap and at least one other who got validation of what’s doable with the steel version. Plenty of wins all around with this mistake.
I wish I could justify a Redarc setup, but this seems like a good way to go. I’d be lying if I said it also doesn’t look great.
And is that the wiring for The Kraken that I see?
The manual doesn’t even cover how to change out the steel cable.
But to your point, if it’s been happening for years, and Warn includes the necessary parts to do it, then why not include the instructions in the winch manual?
Son of a...
Well I already sold the steel one and the -s version will be here on Friday. But sure enough that washer is included with the standalone synthetic rope from Warn.
@ganshert where did you find that page? I didn't see it in the manuals they provided.
Edit: Not deleting this post, but it turns out I was wrong here. Follow the topic for a few pages and you’ll see that this indeed doable.
Best way to explain it is by looking at the termination point on the steel cable: https://www.warn.com/replacement-winch-cable-74313
If you look at the...
Absolutely nothing.
I never wanted a steel one for all the reasons that are common “cons”. I wanted a synthetic one. The steel versions were dirt cheap right before Christmas ($350 after mail-in rebate), so I thought I’d save a bunch of money by purchasing the steel version, buying the...
Installed the Warn winch plate and attempted to install the Warn Evo 10 winch. Realized it's not for me, so I ordered the 10-S. Now I have to reinstall the wheel well and bumper... only to do it all over again next weekend. Annoyed...
If anyone wants a Warn VR EVO 10 that's never been used...
