Why do asshats dilute a decent thread with such posts as the last few... What a shame.

If you can't contribute a decent hack to this thread, why not take the cutesy posts to FB.
Asshats??? Asshats?!?!? You wound me, sir! :) For the record, though, pissing on the windshield doesn't cost anything... except occasionally a fine for public indecency...

I already sung the praises of the gas cap ice scraper along with several others. Just trying to add a little ‘color’ and levity to the thread. I come here for both information and humor. I don’t come here to berate others except maybe to tease. Have a good evening.

Disable Factory Key Fob, Panic Button Hack...

To temporarily... to mechanically disable the Jl/JT factory fob panic button.....

Open up the fob and with a small tweezer, gently remove/pull the small black piece of rubber off of the circuit board contact associated with the panic alarm. That's it!

The small black piece of rubber is easily put back in place should you ever want to do so.

I was wondering the same thing. Then I realized that I've only ever hit it on accident. Then I realized that if I was in an emergency situation where it would come in handy that I'd likely not think about that "feature".

Not really a hack but to keep within the framework of this thread and the last few post.
I have used the panic button on two separate occasions while tent camping. a bear wanderer into camp and a press of the “Oh shit” button with its horn/lights sent it running. So I guess you could call it a bear deterrent.

@Ratbert

ZAutomotive and JSCAN would not have disable panic button as a feature, if it were not that many do want to disable the factory fob panic button. (Lots of forum posts over the last 4 yrs. in regard to the panic button)

Many want the panic button disabled because they have a tendency to inadvertently set off the panic alarm...

Reality is, the factory fob buttons are quite sensitive.

One reason why many have purchased and use a Threedom custom design fob is because the buttons on Threedom fobs are not as sensitive as those on a factory fob.

Exactly. Something that might be worthwhile for some people to disable.

yeah, probably not the first thing i'd reach for in an emergency either, but i can see where it might be useful for someone.

that said, disabling it seems like a solution to a problem i haven't had.

I had posted this hack/install in another thread, but it seems to be appropriate to also share here because it was cheap (under $50 and provides a great benefit).

Finally added aftermarket front seat heaters. I used an F57 fuse tap to power only on RUN and they work perfectly.

Used a set like this off Amazon: https://a.co/d/5hAsbjU

Installed them under my aftermarket seat covers (not under upholstery). This way they are more serviceable if something fails. Placed the switches in an easy to reach, but not obvious location. (Note: this small plastic cover is cheap/easy to replace in case the need to return to stock.
