Diesel with a GDE tune. 24 mpg with 37's and 0-60 in less than 6 second. I giggle every time I stomp it.

Yes, I like the expandibility of this Platform. The short shifting on lower gears it does because of the low redline looks crazy, but I imagine it keeps it on boost.

V6 is the only one with a manual transmission. By default, it is the most fun out of all the engines (V8 included).

I can attest that a MT adds fun to any car (4 of our 6 are manuals) but not what I want in a daily anymore. Still, stroke ‘’em if you got ‘em

Actually, on this same topic, when I was talking to my regular mechanic about how I had ordered a jeep, I was immediately asked which engine I had gotten, and I said the 3.6 pentastar and the response was "good, no one makes a good 2.0L turbo"..... this was from a guy who works on some pretty high end European cars on a regular basis, as the shop is one two (if not the only one? not sure) of the non-dealer shops who works on European cars. Even the 3.6 with the Etorque while more reliable than the 2L or the diesel, is not quite as reliable as the regular old 3.6 (or so I hear).

Yep. and mine was the 2.5L turbo, which had the more complex turbo with the variable vanes. More to go wrong.

Don’t want to derail this thread into another battle of the EV’s vs Gasoline vehicles, but there’s a lot of incorrect information in your post. You don’t get just 26 miles per day, PHEV’s have been around for well over a decade and they all hold their values exceptionally well, software changes can increase/improve battery to mileage ratio, and costs of replacement batteries continue to fall every year.

Good points, however if you’re trying to run in EV mode, then you are constricted to <26 miles/day… unless you luck out and have charging at you’re destination as well. I have never driven to a construction site, industry, plant or refinery that offers free charging, or ANY charging for that matter, to all of the contract workers that show up for construction projects, turnarounds, and work overs. MOST people will have to run in hybrid mode for day-to-day living. It is a very small amount of people that can run purely on EV with such a small 26-mile range.
So I do not think I my information was incorrect. It’s all about perspective.

You really really like to use MOST when spreading your misinformation about the 4xe.

The 4xe like any other PHEV, is the perfect engine option for people that mostly do short trips.

The 4xe is also fun for anyone that doesn't really care about mpg.

If you are in a position of having to choose between filling up gas or putting food on the table, then maybe a Wrangler isn't for you.

I for one never cared I was getting 15mpg or less for the last 30 years, I gave up my 2018 JL because the 4xe was a no brainer, why buy gas when I can drive for cheap to free.

I did not like the 4Xe. Granted, the salesman didn’t know squat so it was the blind leading the blind.

Still, the salesman told me to come to a full stop and then floor it. I did so and caught the Jeep off-guard. It didn’t know what to do; hesitated for a few seconds while it figured out if it should use the electric motor, the 2.0T or both. I got no power; I was disconcerted. When it finally kicked in, the poor little engine screamed like a cat in heat chased by five horny dogs.

It was terrible; the farthest thing from “fun”.

I drove the rest of the way like an 80-year old grandma.

While it figured out what to do? Lol

The 4xe does not figure out anything, it will always use the electric motor for the initial take off, so there is zero "figuring out".

When you stomp on the pedal, there is a lag in firing up the ICE, and it goes into a warm up process for the most part, before the ICE is used, it will use the ICE if required, but face it, "stomping on the pedal" is very far from normal operation.

Now if you wanna "stomp on the pedal", first you prep the ICE and fiddle with a few switches, then you are ready to "stomp on the pedal"

There are already posts that explains how to get the 4xe prepared for "stomp on the pedal" operations.


As for sound, personally there is no worst sound that that 3.6 ESS constantly firing up the engine.

Between the 3.6 ESS and the 4xe, the 4xe is by far the most fun.

I have the 3.6 e torque. I originally wanted the diesel but learned how often it chugs DEF. I bought mine off the lot and I am impressed with the torque off the line. I have a falcon steering stabilizer in firm mode and a carbon fiber steering wheel. I feel my Jeep drives extremely sporty and it puts a smile on my face. For what it’s worth, I sold my 2022 c8 corvette (for a large profit) and bought this. I’m not disappointed

no mis-information being spread by me. Like I said, it’s Perspective. Take a look at all of the highway arteries that lead into and around any major city, where MOST of the people and traffic are! Look at all the traffic going back and forth from suburbs, where MOST of your working class are coming from. MILLIONS of cars every single workday. MOST of them are definitely driving more that 26 round trip miles/day! And MOST of them have ZERO access to charging stations at their office, much less free charging??.
You are the spreader of misinformation, based mostly on your lack of observation.
4xe is a Niche vehicle that is not practical for MOST!!!

When I test drove the 4xe, it was not that fun either. I’m not sure what drive mode the salesman had the Jeep in, but it was underwhelming. I have a 4xe scheduled for rent in mid September for an out of town trip. We decided to rent the Wrangler to see how we will like the wind/noise comfort of our 392 XR that is on order. I’ll have more time to fiddle with the 4xe controls and give it every opportunity to be”fun”?

It’s a shame that where you live hasn’t yet built a more robust charging network, but thankfully the latest bill passed in Congress has allocated several billion dollars to doing just that!

Did you know that you can use the ICE in the 4xe to recharge the battery? Did you know a level 1 charger is included with the 4xe that uses a standard 110v outlet? Did you know that you don’t ever need to run the 4xe in pure EV mode, because Hybrid mode will optimally blend the fuels for your trip to extend the range?

A good friend works in residential construction and has a 4xe. He uses the level 1 charger at job sites to top up the battery. It’s easier than you’d think. Sure, there are many places where that’s not possible but those are not MOST people, they’re minor. And again, it doesn’t matter because the 4xe is a PHEV and not a full EV. My office building has 100 free chargers in the parking garage, so I’m happy with that perk!

Sounds like you had a very uneducated salesman when you drove the 4xe. You seem to be looking at the 4xe from the PERSPECTIVE of an EV when you need to understand it’s a hybrid, and they are vastly different.
