Just saw TFL's review of the Bronco Raptor and it seems Ford had to change the climate control knobs due to chip shortages, they no longer display the temperature digitally in the middle of the knob. That's a hard pill to swallow on a $70K+ car.

I'm pretty new to Wranglers, and it seems there's been just a few changes since the JL came out and I'm wondering, is there a list of downgrades since '20 due to chip shortages? are there any?

Not that I am aware of. We were told that they might ship cars with one key and the second one would be shipped when available but we never saw one sent that way.

About the only thing I've ever heard of is that there appears to be some sort of tire inflation indicator screen/sensor/whatever that helps out with airing down/up tires that is missing from 2022 Rubicons that was in the 2021 models. I can't vouch for this at all as I have a '22 without whatever it is and I don't know anyone with a '21 that can show it to me.

I heard the rumor about Jeeps shipping with one key but the dealer I picked mine up at confirmed that the've never had a Jeep show up with anything less than the two key fobs that they come with, so that rumor was busted.

I wonder if it's because it seems most of the shortages are for higher end parts. Maybe the Wrangler uses cheap components that aren't as affected by shortages.

Happened to half of the 21s too. Swap was early June 21.

Shortages are for pretty much anything right now. Both with silicon in general and neon gas another what 3-6 months down the line depending on how much they had stockpiles

Nope. The Wrangler interior actually uses very high quality plastics, knobs, etc. It may be designed to look “rugged,” but it’s a beautifully made interior. A far cry from the first JK interior.

Back when the "pandemic" started, FCA was one of the only manufacturers that didn't kill its future chip orders. This makes sense because of the lonngggg 9-11 year design cycles on the Wrangler. Since the JL just started in 18 we can probably expect 2028 or 2029 before the chips might change drastically.

Yes, I love the interior, I was referring to electronics.

Expect a mid cycle refresh that will be updating the electronics to Stellantis' new "Atlantis" architecture that is replacing the current Powernet architecture. This will drive major hardware updates

Did they still show the numeric air pressure levels at all, or is that gone too??

IIRC, the new sensors just didn't have the tire fill assist feature (honks when it hits the uconnect programmed pressure). Still shows current pressure at each corner.

I still don't see this happening until the next generation Wrangler.

That never worked on my Feb ‘21 build, unless I have a separate issue. App shows available on the screen but changes to grayed out and unavailable when trying to use.

It works on my '21 but I never use it. It's just laggy enough to make a tire gauge much faster and easier to use.
