I was waxing my jeep today and noticed the pain bubbling at the bottom of both passanger doors. I knew the hinges were a common problem but has anyone experienced bottom of the doors? I called the dealership and spoke to the body shop and they first thing they said was how does your hinges look.

It's been a known problem in many places on our JLs since the first year of them.

Hinges mostly but it's possible on any panel also. My 2019 has had this on all door hinges, 1 door similar to the pictures and the leading edge of the hood.

The bubbling is returning on one door near the hinge that's been repaired about 2 years ago and appearing for the first time on another door.

How is that not becoming a recall or whatever they like to call it since it's a widespread paint quality issue?

In the past I've seen vehicles purchased back by the factory and owners given new vehicles over paint quality issues. Looks like quality and customer satisfaction gets trumped by corporate greed these days.

Just blows my mind with a new vehicle. I have a 1986 Dodge pick up with less rust on it.

I'm worried about the paint matching with just repainting the doors.

Corrosion or rust on body panels or hinges appearing in a year or two old vehicle is new to me. Zero of my previous 8 new cars in the past 30 years had anything like this occur. Had one for 15 years and it never had any rust or corrosion.

The two different body shops that have repainted those bubbling areas matched the paint very well. My entire hood was repainted in 2021 and looks excellent.

To be accurate, the paint is smoother than the factory paint. I was worried about the hood decals being lined up with no air bubbles and they did excellent with them too.

The doors and hinges were also a perfect match. No odd color areas at any angle.

But I do understand how there are differences in skill from one body shop to another. They are definitely not all the same.

Had all my hinges done March 2020. Bubble just appeared on the driver's door skin. I was concerned about the repair as my warranty ran out in December 2021. Dealer said not to worry as it's covered under the 5 year corrosion warranty. Just waiting for FCA authorization to fix it.

Hmmm...with all the horror stories about FCA not covering the repairs, I wonder how difficult it will be for you to get it approved a second time as they will essentially be covering the repair a non-factory finish.

Anything the dealership repairs under warranty remains under warranty. Doesn't matter if it's been repaired several times already.

Once you see a properly done smooth paint job - the factory paint with a ton of orange peel stands out like a sore thumb.

Yes corrosion can occur anywhere on the panel. Good if FCA will approve paint bubbling specifically under the 5 year corrosion warranty. Some have guessed this is not possible because of non-perforation.

FCA approved ours after 3 years though.

I have had the same problem. My 2018 Jeep JL has had more issues than my Toyota 2005 Corolla. I regret my purchase and will never buy a Jeep again

I know Ford has had this problem with aluminum…Tesla has not on their mostly aluminum body parts and their paint quality is considered crappy overall. Obviously it’s something that can be solved…but costs must not yet outweigh the savings. I hate attorneys but a class action lawsuit might be our only hope.
