Hi. I have a truly broken, plastic, easy-entry handle. Top of the seat back. Not the pull strap.

Beyond de-energizing the air bags, and unzipping the fabric, the rest of the factory manual process looks excessive.

Do I really have to de-glove (remove) the entire seat back cover and foam just to access the bolts and cable?
End of whining. Thanks for anyone's experience.

Why would you need to remove the back of the seat panel for a front handle? And how did you break it?

Edit: you mean the handle on the A pillar right?

Handle at the top of the driver's seat-back. Right next to the B pillar. Allows unlatching of the seat back so you can gently push the seatback forward and the whole seat slides forward. I think it's only on 2-door models.

Previous owner used it as a grab handle to yank the whole seat forward (a no-no) and broke the plastic handle inside the trim.

Yup. This is clearly a design/manufacturing flaw that 4 years into a model run should have been resolved...The passenger seat rear access release lever on my 20 JLR broke today and has been used less than half a dozen times. Good news is this is only the second real issue I have had in two years but one that should not happen...

Mine broke in a different spot and after discussing with the dealer I 3D printed myself a new piece. The dealer wanted to charge me $400+ to do mine since it would be a full replacement and that would require them to remove the side airbag. They said it is labor intensive and I don’t disagree but for an $18 part…
I hope you have better luck with your dealer/warranty group.

The replacement part comes with the cable attached which is clipped to the seat back. The two holes at the center of this image actually hold this bracket in place if you don't want to replace the cable as well.

I'm waiting for one of mine to break. I'm really careful with it. I can see that it's a cheap design that will inevitable break soon.

Related to the seat, my trolly on the drivers side broke early on and that was supposed to be better. Thus I bought a replacement and now carry a spare for each side in the center console. My Leatherman I carry will allow me to replace a broken one in about a minute. With a price of (at the time) of $3.86 ea, it was a no brainer to buy the spares.

I broke the passenger latch in the first week of ownershiip. i just pulled the rear seat out, put seat covers on the front seats so the levers are covered with no chance of breaking. Now I access the rear through the rear swing gate.

Do you have the part number?

So my question is, can I unzip the seat back of my 2020 2-door Wrangler JL, remove and reinstall the new release assembly and zip it back up without removing the seat from the Jeep and peeling off the upholstery?

Sorry, but incompetent design from the start. 2018 2dr here, after purchase in July I found it was broken by a previous owner. I have a BMW 240i which also has a seat top 'lever' to pull the seat forward. It's intact and serviceable after 5 years. The repair is not available in the UK with ease, so have just stuck it down with Blu Tak., not really good enough for a brand trying to position itself as premium (£60k+).
Shouldn't really need to be repaired let alone at such expense.

So no need to remove the seat cover as someone noted earlier? I seems you might have to to re-install the screws, yes?
