What roads are you driving on?
The alpine system is amazing with the top down cruising down the highway or the town roads and have never had an issue hearing my tunes thru the speakers.
All sorts of roads. I have both the soft and hard top. I put Dynomat on the hardtop and then placed the Coverking full cover over it and that helped with the noise and heat/cold, but the speakers still lacked detail. If you ever do replace yours, you will be surprised at how cheap the quality is of the Alpine speakers when you hold them in your and compared to whatever you are replacing them with.

I also stuffed acoustic fiber filler into all the crevices. Initially I put in Kicker 3 1/2s but I think they still had too much treble and at high volume hurt my ears. The JBLs have more bass.

I just looked at the cost of Katzkin......never seen a set, so assume they are of high quality.......but pricey.
Katzkin quality is superior to stock, leather quality is similar to what you would find in a high end euro car, plus you can get custom colors, patterns and even embossed with Willy's, rubi etc logo. Pic in Sting gray Willy's

I believe the cost quoted includes installation. I bought Katzkins for my wife's '17 Ram 1500. Got them off ebay for $579 and brought them to a local shop for install for $300 just last September. They look great and it was well worth it. You can find them all over ebay for MUCH cheaper than going through Katzkin direct - except for the 4xe. I was quoted $1700 I think from Katzkin for covers for my 4xe. Another $100+ or so if I wanted Rubicon in that color blue no one knows what it is and doesn't match the tow hooks.

I drove a friends JK with a horrible basic stereo prior to purchase, so having a system that could be heard with the top and or doors off was a must. And the Alpine accomplishes that IMO.

I believe that I previously mentioned that I was going to upgrade the speakers and HU on my 22 JLUR. Well, it came in last week. I replaced the dash speakers with Infinity Ref 3032's in the dash and the soundbar with Ref 6530 components and Select Increments JLJT-Pods. No soundbar cutting required. Just a hole saw for the tweeter. Nice improvement in sound quality. The HU is ready to go and I am just waiting on the antenna adapter for the XM. I am not going to replace the media center because the 4660Nex Pioneer is wireless CarPlay. Also do not intend to replace the camera until I pull the stock tire carrier for the Teraflex one that I got. So in conclusion, it is worth the money and also is easy to upgrade the speakers. I am a do it yourselfer but wiring amps and getting the audio balanced out properly is not in my wheelhouse. I learned that upgrading my old TJ.

Of course it is better than the base one. And it is worth it for the price, any upgraded system with subwoofer is gonna cost that much.

The base system is not as bad as people say it is. They probably tried a JK, or hop in a jeep after trying one with the alpine. The base sound system in the JL is as good as any base modern car. It sounds better than the audio in my 2020 Camry. It is basic and gets the job done, but it is not high end audio. It sounds a bit above average if you have a hardtop with headliners.

I would not have gotten the Alpine system had it not come standard on my 2022 Rubicon, but holy crap is it better than I was expecting. I wouldn’t consider myself an audiophile or someone that cares to have high quality sound in a Jeep and that’s why I would have passed if I could. The way I see it, if it’s loud enough to hear without the top and doors on the highway, you’re set.

However, I did have Toyota’s premium (I think JBL?) audio in my 2021 Tacoma TRD Pro, and this is exponentially better. I also have a hard top two door with no headliner and the 2.0L. I’m sure these make a slight difference in the cabin acoustics.

Now that I have a taste for the Alpine system, I wouldn’t go back, but the standard system gets the job done just fine. Try finding both on a lot to listen to. The difference was immediately apparent to me so it should be a quick decision.
The Alpine system is stuck in the 2022 2 door rubicon? I have a 2021 2 door Rubicon with it and and like it but i just ordered a 2022 2 door but the Alpine Option wasn’t there I was wondering if it came stock or they just weren’t offering offering it because of supply line problems

Yup! It’s standard equipment on all Rubicons now.
