My dealer talked me into buy my Rubi off the showroom floor and order the upgrades it didn't already have from Chrysler and installing them once they arrived. I thought this would be great, I would have one of the first ones on the road, wouldn't have to wait for it to be built, and could drive it home that day. I didn't think the LED Light group, tow package, and remote start would take more than a few weeks to arrive and get installed, certainly not longer than having one built for me. Well it's be 3 months and still nothing. My dealer kept telling me the parts were ordered but Chrysler wasn't telling them anything about when they could expect them, so I called Chrysler myself. I was told they would get everything expedited and get it to the dealer so it could be installed...that was 3 weeks ago and still nothing. now instead of them giving the dealer the run around, they are giving it directly to me. LED Light group - Back ordered, no ETA. Tow package - dealer installed the receiver and wiring harness only because that didn't change from the JK, the rest of it, no info. Remote start - back ordered, no ETA. Now my daytime running lights have failed and they have to replace the body control module and no surprise it's back ordered with no ETA. If didn't love the damn thing so much I'd be really pissed.

According to the website when I built what I wanted it was the receiver, wiring harness, aux switches, battery, and alternator. Either way if would have ordered from the factory, I'd have it all by now.

...back ordered with no ETA. If didn't love the damn thing so much I'd be really pissed.
My local dealership tried the same garbage with me, though they tried telling me that there was very little difference between a Rubicon and a Sahara, and tried to get me to buy the Sahara off the lot. They said they could order the options that I wanted. Something seemed amiss to me. I told them “let me go get my checkbook out of my car” and hopped in, drove off the lot, and never looked back. They’ve called several times since and I just tell them I won’t do business with them. Ended up ordering a JLUR from Koons and got what I thought was a fair deal. Hopefully picking it up next week or the week after. Still no confirmation date but getting closer.

Between the issues they’ve had in Toledo with keeping up with demand, overcoming a general LED shortage, dealing with the soft top shortage, running behind on the two door production, and dealing with the rail car shortage, I think that shipping parts to the dealership is probably low on their priority list. It shouldn’t be, but that would be my wager. Sorry to hear you have had to wait so long. I would just go to the dealership or call them every day. Make them make it right. Unfortunately, not much else you can do.

On the bright side, glad to hear you still like the Jeep even though you’ve had some problems.

Being a brand new release this is normal for all manufacturers. When a new model is released all parts are slotted for builds and they don't generally have any "extra" stock to pull from. This is not a Chrysler issue, this is a Just In Time manufacturing issue.

You did not want to wait for an order and wanted it now. Well you got it. You will now just need to enjoy driving it until these parts become available. Look at it this way, maybe the aftermarket will catch up before the parts are available and there will be some better options for you to choose from.

That is correct, I forgot the aux switches.

Why would a dealership pressure someone to buy a JL under the condition they will provide the missing options later? Someone else would have likely bought it within a couple days.
It’s a salesperson. If they don’t make the sale, someone else will.

Or if it was the last day of the month when he bought it and they needed to make quota...

Because they know some sucker will fall for it and it gets them the sale today........................ after the fact it isn't a sales issue anymore. The service department will have to deal with the due bill, the salesman just looks for the next person he can talk in to a car they didn't want.

I despise those that sell cars as their day job (car salesmen). When I test drove a JL, the salesman disagreed with everything I said I wanted in a build, trying to upsell me.

"2 door? Why? They don't have as much room. Manual? Why? That'll probably hurt your resale. Sport trim? Why? Would you really want a Wrangler with manual windows and no 8.4 inch infotainment system? Soft top? Why? They're not good for our winters."

You ain't upselling an informed buyer $12,000 higher, asshole.

Eh, most are bad but not all. I find working the deal thru email best. Think it took me a day casually emailing back and forth with my salesperson to get everything together. Then I dropped by for half hour, got the quote in writing, and gave my deposit. And the deposit won’t be charged until it’s in transit. Next day I went by and did a test drive, and that’s that.

The sales guy was actually pretty good, the main reason I bought the one off the showroom floor was that they were giving it to with all the upgrades for $4000.00 less than any other dealer quoted me and I wanted to take advantage of it while I could. I've worked with this dealer for years and they've always treated me very well and I don't blame them for any of this. They ordered the parts they said they would, when they said they would. What upset me so much is that Chrysler couldn't or wouldn't tell me or the dealer that parts were back ordered for 2 1/2 months with no ETA. I only found out about the LED shortage by reading through the posts here, Chrysler never said a word about it. I understand the parts are designated for new builds not parts orders, but the least they could have done was tell me or the dealer that.

I was going to take this route with a rubi and less deletions. My salesperson told me not to do it, but didn’t want to say much, maybe this why.

Send us a direct message with your case number or VIN. We can look into the case to get a better idea of what's going on.

Some of you people act like you are still teenagers falling for every century old gimmick to come down the pipe. You are adults and you choose the Jeep you want. Not a salesperson, who has special powers over finding your weakness. Nobody but you makes that decision. Own UP
