On my JK, I just hide the key in a box or under the bumper or whatever every time, or a lot of times I just hide it inside the Jeep (when there's no doors/top).

I just picked up a JL Rubicon where the Remote Proximity is a required option, it's nice, but now..........if I hide my key someone could walk up unlock the door, start the Jeep and drive off.

Any ideas from surfers or anyone else leaving the key?

your interior may not survive but it would probably be fairly safe otherwise

Zip lock bag it and bury it in the sand or under a rock. If you surf with a friend, lock it in their car. I leave mine with the bartender at the pier, but you may not have that option.

Just put the key on the top of one of your tires. If it gets stolen, you have insurance. Enjoying your time in the water. That’s what I do.

Buy a manual trans and don't worry about anyone knowing how to drive it.

Better than a ziplock (more waterproof) might be a Foodsaver bag. You can probably leave it in the bag all the time and it'd still work in the rig.

Only problem with that is it is quite easily opened by any smuck that has say 2 mins time and has watched the YouTube video on how to do the deed.
As is almost any solution…….?

Thanks, I think the Faraday bag will work, that way someone can't just walk up open the door and start it.

Now - I also have a whistling noise it seems from the driver's side mirror (took hard top panels off for a bit, still there) - I've read through a few threads but no fix. It looks like the mirror is maybe just off a a bit where the outside of it is snapped together. Any ideas?

@Threedom

Forum Sponsor THREEDOM sells a really small mini fob (Model S) that is quite easily sealed up and made water tight / water sports safe.

Especially since you have proximity this would be a great way to go. You just tie the little fob to your swimsuit waist tie, etc..
