It’s a sad day for me, but I’ve decided to retire old orangey from daily driver status. He has just over 81,000 miles and the modifications I've done along the way are starting to have problems. Recently had to replace the SOT, replace an Adams driveshaft, need to replace all the bushings on the Rock Krawler arms, etc. These aren't major issues and certainly I can continue to maintain it, but i have grown weary. Therefore, it is with a heavy heart that i have designated old orangey as a toy...which really sucks.

I have wrestled a controlling interest in my wife's 2020 JLUR, "the old gray mare" (the jeep not the wife), away from her and now that will become my DD. All it took was me buying her a new Grand Indigenous People, Long. We though about getting her another Wrangler, but since we already have 4 we figured 5 would be weird. (Four is normal, but 5 is weird.)

All BS aside, this is pretty emotional for me. I love old orangey and we have been through some shit. A ton of wheeling all over this great nation and he has never let me down. After he took me up Hell's Gate without a spotter (or a fucking clue), I actually gave him a hug. I firmly believe that Jeeps have personalities and i feel like old orangey is more like a horse and less like a vehicle. I know him, he knows me...

Luckily, I won't need to sell him and will soon start the process of long-arm suspension and other ridiculous mods to make him a better crawler. But i will certainly miss driving him everyday. Here are some pics, kind of in order.

PS-I'm never selling him

I firmly believe that Jeeps have personalities and i feel like old orangey is more like a horse and less like a vehicle.
Bingo !!!
I've had horses, and that is exactly the feeling, but the description has eluded me until now. Thank you for putting a finger on it !!!
Good luck with the long arms and such. That's exactly where YogiJeep is going when her DD days are done.

When you said you've through some sh** together, you weren't kidding. Looks like you and ole orangey have been on some pretty amazing adventures. Glad you'll still have em in the barn.

Hey brother…. I can see where it might be a little sad not having ass in seat daily, but here’s the thing……. You’re keeping it, you get to wrench on it, you get to mod the shit out of it, you get to take it out and wheel it at the next level, etc. etc. …… that all said, I’m really having a hard time getting all teary eyed with you, and actually I’m fighting back jelly rearing it’s ugly head…….…..?

Great pictures. Sure seems like Ild Orangey has earned her keep. Although she may not be your every day ride, just think about how excited you’ll both be when you take her out of the barn.
Some TLC and other mods (Long Arm Kit) and you two will be off yonder fixin’ to get dirty.
Enjoy the memories and the ones still to come.
