Depends on the overall product mix and how much they are willing to pay vs the profit margin they can get. That’s what would make me pause.

I felt the same way - really didn’t want the painted fenders and top. Like really dont like them. But, the figured f it and ponied up.

hope you’re right and they slot it into a lower trim version. I’m just not going to hold my breath for it.

Ive seen a current gen that had a corsa exhaust and that shit sounded nasty...so loud so good.
I’m sure it sounds great the 5.7 is a good engine, but there will most likely never be another Trackhawk or even a 392 GC. Maybe the turbo I-6 that we keep hearing about If it becomes a reality. Not interested, I hope my SRT lasts the rest of my life.

You sound a bit salty. I have no idea what the exact price will be or when Jeep will release it. I'm not even guaranteeing it. I'm only hoping.

But I have hard time believing Jeep won't offer a cheaper 392 for the masses just like they did with the 392 Challenger Scat Pack. Cloth seats less tech and creature comforts for less.

What will be the exact price. I have no idea. Less. I'm sure it will be overpriced just like every other Jeep though. That seems to be the Jeep MO.
Another thing to consider, I don’t see them releasing a 392 in anything less than a Rubicon. Definitely won’t happen in a Sahara and the Willys and Sport line don’t fit the bill either.

So let’s say they give you the options to have cloth seats and less tech in a rubicon 392. It’s not going to drop the MSRP by 20 grand. Maybe 5 grand if you’re lucky.

The all new 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer both have V8’s. The Wagoneer has a 5.7 V8 and the Grand Wagoneer has a 6.4 V8. These are brand new models. So Jeep isn’t ditching the V8 quite yet. But like the V8 Wrangler, these are very expensive vehicles, the cheapest stripped down one starts at 68k (!)
To me, and this is totally just my opinion and nothing else, the new foreign owners of Jeep don’t get nostalgic for old timey cheap American V8 vehicles (Like we do). To them, a V8 only belongs in the highest class decked out models. Putting a V8 in a cheap version, to them, would be like putting a massive BMW V8 in a stripped down Volkswagen Beetle. It doesn’t make sense to them. High powered European sports cars are meant for the well read and well to do. Poor folks don’t get that big V8 engine. Back in the ‘60’s thru ‘80’s plenty of middle class Americans drove V8’s. But that’s not the European way. So I cant predict the future but I don’t think we’ll see a cheaper version of the V8 Wrangler.
Exactly. V8s help sell upper trims. Like it or not. It’s business. One thing I’ve heard from reviews, the 5.7 V8 in the GC L is sluggish and unimpressive.

Everyone keeps mentioning EVs. What you guys don't realize is EVs aren't ready to fully take over just yet. Car manufacturers are still trying to perfect them. And I guarantee the second every single vehicle goes EV down the road car manufacturers are going to lose money. Everything will be the same and so vanilla and boring.

There will always be a market for performance vehicles. Especially with a V8. I truly believe manufacturers are going to milk high performance V8s as long as they legally can before they truly go away. Plenty of time for Jeep to offer a lower trim 392 left.

And for the record I'm a fan of fuel efficient engines like the 2.0T and others like it. With a simple tune you can get some really good power and have a light weight engine with good fuel economy. Which I think is the perfect set up for the 2 door JL.
Not only that, but our fragile electric grid can’t handle every or most cars going electric. More so with the push of “green” energy…

I agree. It’s not going to be as fast as people think, however, we will begin seeing more 4 cylinder and maybe even 6 cylinder hybrids as V8s are phased out. Look at the new Tundra.

I want diesel without all the emissions crap back… I really just like the fact you can put all kinds of crap in them as alternative fuel and they will run... I somewhat regularly put Jet-A in our old Duramax at work beater, little afraid to do it with the newer Cummins. Diesels would be sweet in my overland dream Jeep’s, but I wouldn’t personally own a modern diesel.

But I feel a big lazy V8 would benefit from better consumption on a loaded out overland Jeep then a 3.6 V6 would.

As it stands right now the current 392 has every expensive option and then some standard. It's not just leather to cloth seats. It's all the technology groups, cold weather group, the painted fenders, the painted hard top, the leather interior, infotainment system, LED headlights, steal bumpers, premium audio, ect ect.. It's loaded to the gills.

Take everything away and you can get down well into the low $60s.

Only option I would get is unpainted hard top (to sell and put toward Ursa Minor Top). It’s debatable if I would buy the LED light package as I would only want the headlights and thats cheaper to convert just the headlights (I prefer aftermarket for all other lights). Everything else I would go aftermarket. Leather, audio, bumpers, armor, etc. Like I been doing on my JLR.

The Grand Wagoner is a big ass luxury vehicle loaded to the gills. Not an off roader. You can't even compare the two. Just like the Dodge Challenger is a drag racer and just as the $40k 392 Scat Pack exists there will be a less expensive Jeep 392. You guys need to stop acting like the 392 is some high end engine. It's old push road technology and it's been around forever. Lol..

After TTL you’ll still be looking close to 65K-70K. That’s still out of most peoples price range for a wrangler. I hope it happens for you brother and you get that dream wrangler. I have no skin in the game either way.

I don’t think it’s a high end engine. I think Jeep positions V8s in higher end trims. You can’t get a GC L with a V8 until you move up to the overland trim. It’s just how they market and position trim levels.

Honestly the 392 Wrangler as it stands now is crazy overpriced. Even with all the options. They can easily price the stripped down version at $60k or less if they wanted. Will they? Who knows.

You can actually get a Ram TRX 6.2 Super Charged 702 Horsepower monster for less right now. I believe $72k. How they came up with the 392 Jeep price msrp above that is beyond me!?!

Okay I am trying to see your vision here. A stripped down rubicon with 2.0T, no upgrades other than black hard top is 49K MSRP.

How much do you think Jeep would charge a customer to add a 392 HEMI to the Jeep Rubicon in the photo below? 10K? 15K? Either way the numbers with TTL still put the average joe way out of purchasing a stripped down 392.

But yes, it would at least make sense in the Rubicon trim to have the ability to choose 392 as an engine option. That I can agree with you.
