What happens after the 6mths?

@Spearmin

Place the subscription end date on your Google calenda. You need to call XM approx. 3 weeks or so before the subscription ends... You want to contact XM before they automatically renew your XM subscription at a scary/high high rate..

Call XM retentions @ 1-866-635-5020

You tell them, XM is to pricey and you think that you will just stop using XM and use your smartphone / Pandora.

With that the rep will give you a new / possibly the same price offering for 6 months and ask you if you want to renew your subscription at that rate... You say ok, and remember, do not give them your charge card # and have them bill you.... Have XM waive billing fee as you are in NY.

Do not give the rep your CC #......You don't want them nailing you with an auto renewal, CC renewal/high high rate and then find yourself trying to get a refund..

I have a 1yr free? subscription on my 21 Rubicon but it grouped in with the radio package of $2,000 and some change

to me XM is just like cable, 300 channels with nothing I want. I have amazon prime, definitely won't renew

@Devil6Dog

Do you have an "Echo Auto" in your JL ? I use one to play my Amazon playlists, songs and other do other Alexa type stuff.

Regardless of how good of a deal they have I got tired of calling them, the last time I called when it ran out I spent 20 mins on the phone working there best deal and then the only way to get it was to have auto renewal and when I told them no then it was back to “ Well Sir without auto renewal” its kinda like I was dealing with the local cable company until I cut them loose and carried in my TV boxes and went to streaming services.

There are a lot better choices that SAT radio so save your $$$, I presently use Apple music and have a family plan at $15 a month and it can be shared with up to (6) ppl so I signed up and I split the cost up to everybody at less than $5 a month and no more auto increases ??

There are other services and Apple is just one

I call and get a new subscription every 6 months. So easy...

Never ever, takes me no more then 10 mins. on the phone tops. I have been renewing this way for many many many years.. Multiple vehicles and I have to renew each subscription... Each time you do the renewal drill it gets easier....

The XM reps never hassle you or push you, they just offer a new low rate.... renew your same old low rate. They know why you called and that you are seeking a low rate.

Yes, you agree to auto renewal but a no brainer... Daaaaaah...... that you need to / must call and renew at a low rate versus waiting for that auto renewal at a high high rate. No need to not subscribe because of auto renewal....

Only time you are mandated to give a charge card in order to get a subscription is if you go with a 1 yr. subscription...

As mentioned do not give XM your charge cad number. Have them bill you. This way they can not auto renew / charge your CC.

I travel LOTS and do not sit at home/do not work ... In my interstate travels / travels, I'm often where cell phone coverage, even though I use Version, can get spotty.

With XM, I find I am rarely.... and I mean rarely without satellite signal or with satellite interference.. So, always have music weather, news and such when on the road thanks to satellite coverage/ XM.

Especially IF you travel lots..... are on the road lots, XM has lots to offer.... IT, coupled with Amazon Prime Music, Pandora, Spotify and the others...

$5.00 a month for XM, what it offers and it's ease of use is very very little..

I renew yearly. In fact, I just renewed a few minutes ago. I set a calendar reminder to call in a few weeks before my subscription expires each year. I don't listen to terrestrial radio in my Jeep or at home, so I go for what is now called the Platinum Package. Obviously, I listen in my Jeep and at home I stream via SONOS or various Echo devices throughout the house. I also listen on my phone while commuting on the train to and from work. I get all channels plus streaming for $8.25/mo. For me, the extra couple of bucks for the full channel lineup and streaming is worth it.

I don't know what that is. I don't use Alexa, I don't trust her lol
Geeeez, I'm 72 and Alexa has been in my life for over 6 years. I trust her.. 8)

I was a tester for Amazon of the original Echo and then with the Echo Auto when Amazon came up with that. I'm testing a new hush hush, similar offering now for Amazon.

In my homes, Alexa does lots.... Opens my garage doors, opens shades, turns lights on and off, plays music, adjusts thermostats, works my microwave, offers intercom system, initiates phone calls and much much much more...

In the JL, she tells me where I am, plays Amazon play lists, gives me weather, initiates phone calls and lots more.... Yes, I am an Alexa fanboy..

Yeh I don't want me electronics watching me or doing work for me, I try to limit that as much as possible. Some of it can't be blocked I know but I defiantly don't encourage more.

SiriusXM is such a racket, IMO. It's bundled in with damn near every new vehicle purchase (and lots of used if you go through the dealership) and they get your information, whether you want them to or not.

Cancelling it is a NIGHTMARE. Seriously, if I ever launched a subscription services company, I would 100% hire their team to run my retentions department.

I've been researching to see if there's a way to have the dealer just never set it up. I have Spotify, Android Auto, and Google Maps. There is literally nothing that SiriusXM offers me.

I could have sworn the XM subscription is suppose to last 1yr? I got a notice in the mail stating its ending now in July, and I bought the Jeep in January. The offer is for $5.00 per month which I think is pretty good.
Mine was 1 year. Bought in July 2020, Expires August this year.
Just be aware, that $5/month deal is great but when it expires they will charge you a fortune. I went through this with another car, to cancel or haggle a new deal I was on the phone for 1.5 hours.
I won't do it again.

Unfortunately there isn't. The radios are built with the SiriusXM ID as part of the software. SiriusXM knows this ID in advance and the free trial is automatically pushed to the radio. All you need to do is tune into one of the SiriusXM channels. As part of SiriusXM being in the vehicle, your info is unfortunately sent to SiriusXM and the never-ending renewal letters are sent to you.

It's a 6 mo. freebe..

When you renew with XM, be sure to tell them you want to be billed and you will pay at their website / your account there.

You will want to do a one time credit card payment there.... your account at XM's website, Do NOT give the XM guy/gal your charge card number!!!!

Also, be sure to tell them you are in New York and thus they cannot legally charge you the $2.00 billing fee and you want it "waived"... Oh, yes, $5.00 for 6 mo is current promo they are offering.
I see $5/month, (that's what I currently pay) where can I find $5 for 6 months? XM subscription is only worth it if you can get it greatly discounted. I have it in both my vehicles and also use their app to stream at home.

That's why you never give them your credit card. Always ask for a bill to be sent.
