Off-Road Camping Trailers

I just placed my order for a 2018 JLU Rubicon fully loaded in Sting Gray and couldn't be more excited! I am really looking forward to doing some camping in remote areas and am looking for a trailer that will sleep at least 6 people and is off-road capable and within the towing capacity of the JL. Does anyone have any recommendations or experience with trailers like this that could share some advice?

That's basically what I have been looking for. I'm not looking for a toy hauler, I know with the weight it'll likely be a popup of some kind or roof top tent. Just looking for recommendations or experience!

The Jayco 12SC Baja seems to fit the bill but I am really not sure how well the thing would hold up to offroad abuse for an extended period

That looks to be close to your max weight. I like keeping 500-800lbs below the rated tow weight with long articulating hitch. But then I'm getting a 2 door.

I know this doesn’t answer your question but I ended up going with a Gobi rack and a roof top tent that sleeps 4. I couldn’t find a tear drop build that i trusted and the price on them was a bit nuts as well (15-25k). Also I didnt want to limit the areas I could get into because of the trailer.

I have a neat little box tent that I recently put on a small utility trailer. Dammit now I have a jeep I'll have to get a lift and bigger tires on the trailer.

Six people would be pushing it... queen size bed upstairs, room for same or more below. Independent suspension, 360 degree hitch, goes about anywhere you can.

6 people? With all the beer dogs and stuff for camping it isn't going to happen unless you have a good second vehicle to put stuff in. Be sure to check towing weight and your tongue weight for the trailer. That combined with passengers and any other stuff in the Jeep add up to you gross carrying capacity.

Not much left for camping supplies but thejeep will pull it based on dry weight and tongue weight.

I’ve had my eye on this. Not a tent but Runaway Campers seem to be on the cheaper end of trailer sleeping solution.
