There are a couple of offerings in the engine ecu category, that seem to be gaining traction and are reliably gaining performance in conjunction with the right hard parts that allow the motor to breathe more freely. I've yet to even decide if I will venture down that rabbit hole, so I'm not up on the details.

If you're referring to the Tazer, and the like, than the only performance related enhancements are its ability to bypass the factory nannies. Such as rear locker use in 2hi, both lockers in 4hi, "sway lock" that prevents reconnect when exceeding 19 mph, "trac kill" that fully shuts down traction control vs just desensitizing it, programmable high rpm in winch mode, etc.

There are obd2 chips that claim to work with the ECU and change tuning

Oh this is a scam... I like how the different stages add more HP & MPG, and the pricing goes up with each level. There's absolutely no additional hardware/software, just that the tune itself costs more with each level.

I can guarantee that this chip does absolutely nothing.

Also how about that 12-cylinder Jeep?
