Hello JL peeps-

My family experienced a catastrophic loss earlier this year when an EF3 tornado tore through our town. Luckily, there were no lives lost or major injuries.

However, I did have to lay to rest my 2021 Rubicon diesel. My diesel was one of the vehicles that I planned to keep forever so it was a difficult loss especially since the diesel engine was somewhat unique. The loss of my Rubicon has been difficult but I know I’ll eventually regain the strength to buy again (once our house is rebuilt :)). I test drove a ‘24 392 a couple weeks ago and boy did I fall in love… I’ll just have to figure out if I buy gently used or new — pricing is outrageous.

Moral of the post is cherish your loved ones as you never know when they’ll be taken away…

Glad you're OK, especially any family.
Will you be getting another diesel?

I wrecked my 2021 diesel too, and immediately got another diesel, can't go back to gas for some reason, not even the 392.

I don’t think so… After test driving the 392 it was clear that I needed one. For me, the 392 checks a few boxes and is another vehicle that I’ll attempt to keep forever.

Awesome!
The diesel checks all of mine.
A lot of torque at low RPM, and 450+ range.
Diesel #2 costs less than the cheapest octane (87) where I live.

The diesel is great but I’ve been eyeing a big American V8 muscle car and I think the Jeep 392 will solve that problem for me. Kills two birds w/one stone.

OH NO!! I am sooooooooooooooo glad you and your family are OK. The Jeep can be replaced (by a 392!!). I hope the home rebuild does not take too long.

I have the v8 issue solved as well, wife wants the scat challenger ❤ she wants it 'murdered out', or all black. Except the wheels, she's thinking of a color other than black.

Love the diesel though, embarrassed my buddy with the bronco raptor on sand and rocks. He's faster than me on the road, but some reason the diesel pulls better in the dunes. It could of been tire selection. I had MT baja legend exp, and he had the nitto ridge. Both our tires were 37" and aired to 12 psi.

Take the plunge. The 392 is the last wrangler you'll ever need, especially a 24 with the stock xtreme recon package. It's non-stop smiles per gallon

Dang glad you’re ok.

Did insurance total it out or did you just not want to wait for the repairs? Don’t worry I won’t judge (too much).

Honestly I wish I could take it and use it as a just in case parts vehicle since it’s the same year and color.

Insurance totaled it out. I was tempted to buy the salvaged title but there was an extensive amount of water damage since the top was off while parked in the garage.

Fortunately, I was able to reclaim all my aftermarket parts with the exception of the AMP Research deployable running boards. I’ll eventually start seeing those parts once I figure out which ones won’t be needed on the 392 :-D

I was going to ask, how did your insurance factor in your "mods"? We had a '17 Camry totaled and we came out on the losing end (badly).

Little to none… The wheels alone were only going to see an increase in my claim of $150… $150!!!

I found a set of JK wheels on market place for $125 so they got swapped out quick.
