So you don't do business with anything that advertises? That leaves how many companies, exactly? Does it piss you off when Jeep does a big Super Bowl commercial or two every year?

I am truly curious, this doesn't seem to be a well-thought-out opinion.
It's not that you cannot advertise every company needs to, but there are trip over themselves to do so and promote heavily by throwing parts or their name on social media platforms and you people who are just getting into Jeeps buy this stuff thinking it's the greatest then in a short time have to buy stuff to replace it.

Extreme terrain is a good example here, promoted the hell out if themselves and their house brands on this forum the new people thought they were great, then they get screwed by their shitty products and customer service.

Metalcloak is another brand I am always worry about, mainly their 6 pack shocks. I look at them and see rock magnets. They promote then heavily on social media and get hope around them, and sure enough they get destroyed all the time. So make me question their other overly complicated designs that they promote and people zombie twords.

I'm not saying that merchandising is bad. What I don't like is that they are not presented honestly, and Lite Brite is the absolute worst. They present it as a review and it's not. It's a commercial and if you didn't know that they were whores, you might take them at their word and buy the crap they're peddling. I think it's dishonest.

And i know a thing or two about shooting. ;)

Chris - I agree! If ya'll look at yelp or trip advisor or google - the reviews are all over the charts! How can a Jeep dealer be the best experience ever and a bunch of low life criminals too?? I was looking at a new lawn mower and made the mistake of looking at the reviews, either 5 stars or 1 star, - how? So, in my opinion, LiteBrite at least shows the product in use and they do stuff I sure wouldn't try. There's a guy - yankee marshall that does gun reviews and he's honest ( I think) about them. But I can't stand some of his political views so I quit watching him. Love Kirsten Joy Weiss though, I almost bought a rifle like hers, then I saw the price and thought - nope.

I feel like most of well known Youtubers are becoming more of a product demo guys than actually being a reviewer with pros and cons. I watch it for entertainment but research before making a purchase.

OK - let's talk custom exhaust. Do a little search and Borla is either over priced crap or the best there is and Magna Flow - either fits perfect or is designed all wrong. This is from the forum. You can't trust nothing these days! At least if I'm watching you tube or the car shows on MT channel, we know the stuff is free, we trust it's good since we see it installed and get a glimpse of it working. And don't even start on not buying something because the company is a (fill in the blank) and you can't support that. Maybe that's why I hate shopping!

Thanks! It's complicated, haha. It's a Masterpiece Arms chassis with a Defiance action and a Hawk Hill barrel. All my rifles are custom built competition rigs. But you can get a built rifle from Masterpiece Arms that's just as good. The cartridge I'm shooting in the pic is a 6 Creedmoor, but i can change the barrels out in a few minutes to any short action cartridge; I only have 6.5 creedmoor, 223 and 308 right now. I'm also going to get a 300 WSM barrel for it this year.

Im not sure why this bothers so many people. When I see a channel that is heavy on sponsorship If I even watch it I take it with a grain of salt. Youtube is a place of entertainment for me and I use it as such. There are some great videos that go into detail on installation and explaining how a product particularly works and thats great too. If you are watching review videos they are peoples opinions and everyone has one and more times than not they are different from each other. I am not mad at ones hustle but when someone new pops onto the scene I feel you can always tell who is actually trying to make quality content and who is just trying to sell anything to get sponsors. Those people I ignore and do not watch.

I get what you're saying and don't disagree, what bothers me is that a lot of channels are not very open on what is sponsored and what is an honest review. To me at least, that omission is a lie.

I don't have a problem with people making money, (Yay America!!) but it pisses me off when they're disingenuous.

I get what they're doing and more power to them. The only time I truly felt annoyed was yesterday when I watched the latest lite brite video and they mentioned Best Top every five seconds. I generally like their content because they are entertaining and seem like they are enjoying themselves, it just bothered me yesterday. I like Trail Recon a lot too-he is pretty transparent about his products. Chris at Venture 4WD is pretty much my favorite although (or maybe because) he doesn't do too many modifications.

Venture 4WD is my favorite YouTube channel. It's definitely not for everyone, though, since it's less about the Jeep and more about the lifestyle.

I have zero issues with product placement/pitching, PROVIDED there is overt and full disclosure of financial or other relationships between the channel and the product.

There are many Jeep channels (and non-jeep) that do NOT do a robust enough job of disclosing........ I don’t watch them.

The best Jeep offroad videos are the ones I make and then watch. No talking. No selling. No music. Just hours and hour of me in the Jeep driving trails.

If you have a brain in your head you know there is bias in everyone. It should be ones default setting then listen to what they are saying and see if makes sense or not. Dont just watch one video or listen to a bud or any one source, get lots of them. the more important the subject the more sources and look for developing patterns in information. Then make a choice and still be wrong...lol

I REALLY like Lite Brite vids, great production value, real people, pretty good info. Could care less if they get freebeez or good deals to test. They are one sources and I think a good one, along with many. Glad they make money on vids, they earn it. When I retire I'm wearing those stretchy pants and putting her out of business!!!! ;)

Tutorials and installs? Great! Entertainment and education? Awesome! Product reviews? Hell no!

I’ve seen two or three popular jeep you tubers pushing Synergy steering upgrades. They are “review” videos where they bitch about wobbling factory components then install the synergy stuff then say absolutely nothing about if it made any improvement.

Is synergy good? Sure. Do they make the best steering stuff for the JL? Who knows! Not these you tubers!
