Starting the same basic thread as if it was something new? I agree. Not helpful. At all.
The difference is that back then I was still under the free uconnect package. this isnt the case any more and I specifically cited that in my OP.

its not a question of them going after me or any one person. Ive paid my taxes. The question is the fact that they can using a device that you own. ownership means total control.

This is the sort of thing that people passively accept until they see it used against them.
But you haven't shown any evidence that they could do anything more than update my uconnect or turn off my satellite radio? Oh the control they could exercise nefariously.

Ok, so now you know that you'll get warnings when things aren't working as intended with your rig. Unrelated to your Uconnect subscription. That your rig is communicating back to corporate with those details.

Now that you have that knowledge it's up to you as to whether you sit there and formulate various conspiracy theories about what they could possibly do with those details / with that level of control.

Feel free to remove those comm devices. Just don't be shocked when lots of seemingly unrelated things stop working. And, of course, the implications on your warranty.

A flawed argument. Why do I need to show a dead body to prove that a man with a gun can kill people?

the problem is that they can make changes at will and against ours. what happens for instance if they remove a feature in the console that you like? do you own the jeep if you cannot go back to the version that had the feature you liked?

Android Auto / CarPlay frequently have issues that are addressed via updates. If you're one of those that use the built-in navigation, then that needs to periodically update.

That's two off the top of my head.

Software engineers are lazy and assume they get connections periodically. Disconnect it and things start to go sideways in ways that don't make sense to mere mortals.

this is what i mean but not just unhelpful but harmful
No, I'm being helpful. Clearly you had forgotten you had already brought this up and got a thread locked after arguing and calling people names when they didn't agree with you. That's harmful.

People have posted details on how to disconnect all comms. I don't remember all of the somewhat unexpected side effects, but obviously things like built-in nav would be severely hindered or gone. Note that I don't use built-in nav, but it's supposed to have improved dramatically in the 2024s.

I guess you don't own your house either then.

But im ok with this. the only people who need nav are cab drivers and vacationers. its a great feature to be sure but its the principal of the thing. Ownership is key and people here resisting this is interesting to watch.
