I know right!?! I owned a couple of the super duper TaRD Off Road package Tacomas prior to the Jeep. So no hate from me.

I came from a TaRD Pro prior to the Jeep. I couldn't get rid of that truck fast enough. Between the gutless Atkinson cycle motor and the brutal manual transmission I didn't care if that vehicle lasted 20 years without an oil change. It would have been 20 years of abject misery. No marriage jokes.....

Wait, are you talking about the same Japanese vehicles that routinely go 250k+ miles without a single issue being ā€œPOSā€? I can nearly guarantee your Gladiator, or my Wrangler, won’t approach that mileage without issues. You might be able to justify a Jeep in some way or another, but build quality, reliability, and longevity definitely aren’t it.
Plenty of better options if you want to tow. But that’s a whole another discussion….
It’s what I want. Is that SIMPLE enough for you ? If you feel like that about Jeeps, why do you own one ? Go buy a Subaru. And all the Japanese vehicles that I see that have anywhere near that mileage are literally falling apart as they drive down the road.

I already explained why I own a Jeep....nobody else makes a solid axle SUV (stock with lockers, 33's, 4:1 t-case, etc). Trust me, I would own a Toyota if they made a similarly sized SUV with solid axles.
Jeep folks don't live in reality if they think a Jeep lasts longer than a Toyota or a Honda. Maybe your Jeep can make it to 250k miles, with two V6 engine replacements, few axle seals, 6 new aux and main batteries, and loads of electrical work.

Yeah, I didn't want a 4 door. But 2 teenage boys over 6' tall told me that I needed one. And I do view the 4 door as the successor of the old XJ. I will concede whole heartedly that the 4 door was the largest concession made to make the Wrangler appealing to the everyman.
Still miss my old XJ. Had many fond memories of driving that thing everywhere when I was younger. Mostly on-road, occasionally off-road when I got lost (or was trying to get lost), through a couple gnarly blizzards, put it on it's side.. twice. Lots of room to haul junk, good friends and some pretty gals. Fun times! šŸ‘

I parked it on the beach one time and a group of Greenpeace activists started chanting ā€œbe freeā€ and tried to push it back into the ocean.
Getting CT wet voids the warranty.
