Jeep people tend to forget that there’s another HUGE reason people buy Wranglers: it was the only way to get a 4dr convertible or even a relatively affordable convertible that can comfortably haul 4 people + luggage (until Bronco came out). This appeals to A LOT of people, and not all of these people want to deal with Jeep Things to have that experience. I sorta get that.

BTW, I’ve had Jeeps for a long time and I’ve folded my windshield exactly once, just to see how it worked. I wouldn’t care at all if they nuked that feature. But doors off, all the time.

Most people who don’t like the way Wranglers drive just need to dial in more caster with adjustable LCAs. Not sure why Jeep insists on short control arms from the factory, but they would fix most complaints by lengthening them a bit.
Ironically the caster on my JT is fantastic. Drives better stock than any other solid axle Jeep I've had aside from my old XJ. I think it's just variable from Jeep-to-Jeep depending on options and actual ride height realized due to the variable weight.

I agree with this. Even with a 2.5" (more like 4") AEV lift it drives like normal. .

I even have some of the bubbling paint in 3 spots but with it being 5 years old I figured it will be many more years before it gets bad enough and it will probably be due for a paint job by then. I have plenty of pinstripes and my soft top windows are all scratched up. Do I clean it up and get it clean and shiny sometimes? Yes I do but I would never get rid of my jeep.

The only thing I disagree with about this post is Off-roading is a requirement. Plenty of people love their Jeeps and don't go off road.

Jeep people tend to forget that there’s another HUGE reason people buy Wranglers: it was the only way to get a 4dr convertible or even a relatively affordable convertible that can comfortably haul 4 people + luggage (until Bronco came out). This user group is the problem, though. Just buy something else- It's not hard. It's like buying a house in the flightpath of a major airport and then complaining about all the planes flying overhead all the time. In other news: Water is wet.

Also, the blatant LIES AND SLANDER of the Rubicon owners:
It's not about boredom. When Rubi guy gets all peacock because of "I got", but barely understands the vehicle that they own, it makes matters difficult. It seems like I am speaking Klingon when Rubi guys eyes glaze over. Hard to enjoy the Jeep brotherhood when the selfish and self-centered attitude of society rears it's ugly head...

Mike
Good sir- I'm fairly certain there is one trim above us Rubicons, High Altitude or whatever. It isn't our fault these plebians can't afford the High Altitude and opt to lower the Rubicon nameplate with their sycophancy and degeneration.</sarcasmFont>

In all seriousness: It's incredibly frustrating when I see someone driving a 392 with zero regard for the machine they have; They just think it's a "cool, tough looking" version of a G-Wagen or something equally dumb

This thread reminds me off all those posts and threads from new comers to Jeep during the pandemic. They traded Audis and BMWs, then constantly complained about cosmetic issues and ride. I can't remember how many times I read "For a $50/60k vehicle..." Those guys were more concerned about ceramic coating and detailing than anything else. They are all gone now, probably complaining about their Teslas or Rivians.

It is hard. There’s basically nothing else available. Wrangler and Bronco. Maybe Mustang convertible? But that’s not as comfortable for 4 as Wrangler/Bronco. They are the only game.

I don't off-road nearly often to justify the expense of a XR Rubi and I don't care. It took me a long time to afford the vehicle I wanted since I was a little kid.

I like the way it rides on the pavement and it feels safer in traffic than other vehicles.

You don't understand my purchase and that's cool. If I talked to you long enough I would likely find things that I don't understand about your behavior.

We have enough division in our society, is this worth dividing over/complaining about?

Hi, I'm Dusty. And I am a condescending jerk. Just wanted to get that out of the way before I continue. This post is my opinion, not a statement of fact. And I know that a lot of people are going to disagree with me. I'm okay with that.

If you bought a Wrangler and you do not go off road, you bought the wrong vehicle. There are so many posts here, with owners complaining about things that are just inherent to how a Wrangler is constructed. "My Jeep rides worse than ____, my gas mileage is bad after lift and tires (duh), it's noisy inside, my steering is funny, etc, etc..."

Not all of these posts are uncalled for, but some of the people have a rather unreasonable expectation. And some wish for Jeep to change the Wrangler to be more in line to what they are expecting. That's where I don't agree with folks. Several times people have expressed the wish for the Wrangler to have IFS, fixed windshields, even a fixed top. If that's what you want, those vehicles already exist. There are other options from most manufacturers that fit those categories. But there is only one vehicle like the Wrangler. The "quirks and features" to quote Doug Demuro from YouTube are what makes the Wrangler unique and desirable. It's the only SUV still available with a solid axle. It's the only one that has a folding windshield. One of only 2 that has a removable top. The body on frame construction makes it heavy, but rugged. The recirculating ball steering has a heavy feel and combined with the sfa can have rough handling and steering problems compared to IFS. But it's much stronger and easier to modify for improved performance off road. The problems that most people complain about, are part and parcel with the attributes that make the Wrangler such a desirable vehicle to people who want to use their Jeep off road on the trails. But it makes it a bad choice for a daily commute vehicle if you don't intend to ever go wheeling. Especially if you have modified it for larger tires to look cool, but did not consider how that would impact the daily drive.

Rant over. Again, this is just words from a judgmental prick. Feel free to completely ignore me. But maybe, just maybe after reading this you will think about what I wrote and if there is a kernel of truth to it.
Don't agree with you.

Now, to be clear, I have a 392, and take it on the dunes most weekends.

But my wife has a JK, and it never sees dirt. It looks good, is a convertible, sits up high, has 4wd for the winters, and has the features she likes.

That's like saying if you own a Corvette and you don't race it, you bought the wrong vehicle, or you bought a Prius and don't hyper mile it, you bought the wrong vehicle.

I believe that any car can be for any person, who cares. If everyone only bought what we needed for our exact purposes, and nothing more, the auto marketplace would be a really boring place.....

I also have a 2009 Mercury Grand Marquis. Did I get the wrong vehicle just because it's not full of people every time I drive it? Or what about my 1997 pickup, is it wrong of me to drive it when the bed isn't full of stuff ALL the time?

Nope - but to each his own.....

but it's not.
That's part of the "Experience"; and that is either worth the hassle and (more importantly) the PRICE, or it isn't- And so you buy something else.

Again, it's like buying a house that fits your wants, but it's near an airport or railroad tracks. IF you REALLY want it- you buy it and deal with it.

If you don't- Time to start making some decisions on what is more important to your use case- Which is important to mention: can also change over time. I've seen plenty of people get a JK over that run, and it turns into a gateway Jeep. I've also seen plenty of long time Wrangler owners (who did do off roading) get rid of their Jeep and move on to something new/ different.
