No order the exact Mopar paint you need online. Just do a little searching.

It was a joke, I'll likely end up removeing the bolt to inspect the area and then clean it up if a clay bar doesnt remove that as suggested earlier.

Noticed while washing. They sell paint to any ole bloke?
Where is that bolt?

You sure that's not dirt? It doesn't look like it's metal rusting out, it looks like whatever it is, is sitting on top of the paint.

I’d just clean up the spot and touch it up. Wouldn’t be worth a trip to the dealer for me, not worth it, and they’re not going to care.

Its underneath, that pinch weld that runs underneath. Im gonna grab a clay bar this afternoon as suggested. Its definitely rust. Maybe I kicked up a piece of metal. The picture doesnt show it all that well. But its oxidized something or another.

If I had a vehicle that was showing rust on the body within the first year, I would not be using a clay bar and touch up pen. I would have it at the dealer and having them do it. I would want the problem documented from day one just in case things get worse.

That sucks!

Yep rust is definitely a constant worry with these vehicles, especially if you're off-roading it. 😥

I've got a couple rust spots myself, thankfully all of mine are on screws which had factory paint on them, like the hood screws and such.

It might not be a bad idea to upgrade some of the bolts if you're starting to have rusting issues with the bolts themselves, to either stainless steel or something with a bit of corrosion resistance. I myself plan on upgrading the hood screws at some point in the future to stainless steel. I just need to figure out what kind of threading and screw they are. 😝🙃

I would get the rust issue documented with a dealer. Not because you can’t fix it yourself or whatever but in case this is the first of many rust issues. Call me paranoid but not before you look at all my bubbling and rusty hinges..

Dont know the thread pitch? Grab some epoxy or a welder and a rattle can and you wont have to worry about it :P

In all seriousness I already considered it, may even make some rubber spacers for the hinges to see about preventing the corrosion from the (i know its not electrolysis but same concept) problem.

Same issue for me. Bought the JL eleven months ago, the underside is quite rusty but I didn't undercoat. But what I just found is rust and pitting all over the body, at 11 months old and only 12,000km (7000 miles).
Folks are gonna say it's because I live in Canada and we use salt, but none of our other cars have this problem. I'm in disbelief.
