Also the tcase is working just fine. Just make sure ypu don't offroad in 4auto, that will cook the clutches

not worth the effort to throw on a XR lift on the non XR.

I've done some pretty aggressive trails with my stock XR to the point where I hit a rock so hard it pushed in my Metalcloak skidplate against the exhaust crossover and had to pull it back out.

The stock XR doesn't flex well and the shocks are mediocre at controlling the weight over rough terrain.

I'm adding a lift, shocks and tires (leaning towards MT BB ATs) later this year as a result.

In my view the stock axles will cope well enough as long as you don't have a "hold my beer" right foot.
I don’t think I would worry about throwing the xr stuff on a non xr, but the plan would be to get a real lift either Clayton or metalcloak.

I do love the Fathom Blue!

Test drive the 2.0L. I think it's better for up here in the hills. Peppy.

Can't comment on how it would do in tricky wheeling as I haven't had the pleasure yet. The 3.6 with manual is low drama with 4.88's. Love it except I need a better clutch.
I do enjoy my e torque v6 and the 4.88 gears def gets up and goes when I want to lol.

The one thing I worry about with the 2.0 is how the turbo lag is especially off road.

I've been set on the XR package mostly for the gears. Though I did find this one with 4.88's:

https://www.jeep.com/new-inventory/...Code=80403&optionCodes=PDS,PGP,PGG&radius=100

So maybe go that way and swap my suspension over... with 4 door JKS springs?

Do the XR's come with longer drive shafts? I noticed the geometry corrections but don't like the extra long bumps. 🤷‍♂️

Great choices. I looked at both of them seriously.

I'm doing RockKrawler springs with 7075 midarms and Fox 2.5 DSC shocks

Yeah, I need more information. Essentially why I got the 3.6, was it's very linear torque curve. Very predictable.

I did find a 4dr with the xr package but also had the 4.88 gears and v6 auto up north a bit was an intersting option and I think it had already been discounted about 10k.

The 392 XR suspension is the same as a non XR but the XR has taller bump stops and some Jeep branded shocks. 20A and last calls I do believe come with an additional 1/2 spacer lift. The non XR comes with Fox shocks. Other than gears and a few cosmetic things there is no major difference. This question has been beaten to absolute death on the 392 forum, some people swear up and down XR has all kinds of other things like bigger brakes and bigger steering box, but nobody can ever prove any of it and all the part numbers are the same between the trims. If Jeep had made a significant upgrade to the XR package they would make sure everyone knew about it. I have had my 22 non XR since new and it is absolutely amazing. I added 35s and with 3.73s that thing has no issues rolling down the road. I haven’t done any hardcore rock crawling but I have spend a considerable amount of time on steep back country forest roads and the 3.73 never left me wishing I had more. When I ordered mine XR was not available but I did pass up the option to buy an XR the day I picked mine up, same color same options. I passed because my window sticker has my name on it, thought that was pretty cool. If I was looking at a used 392 I wouldn’t pass up a good deal on a non XR, gears are cheap. 3.73 will also help with gas mileage if that’s a concern on long road trips.

Thanks for the reply, I didn’t think there was much difference between xr and non xr besides mainly the gears. I currently have 4.88 and I drive with a heavy foot so mpg not something I’m worried about, ws wondering how well the 3.73 do off road and with bigger tires since I’ll be putting on 37” right away.

I can only give my opinion on 35s but there are plenty of videos of people running 37s with 3.73s and some on the 392 forum. Unfortunately everyone has a different expectation of performance so it’s hard to judge. I do think most people would prefer at least 4.56 with 37s. Like I said though, gears are cheap if the price is right on the Jeep. You should join up in the 392 forum, this is a great topic to set off an aggressive, opinion fueled discussion. 😂 The last few remaining non XR guys are looked down on pretty hard over there, myself included. 😂

I don’t pay and I see everything, is this the forum you joined?

https://www.jeep392.com/
Yep that’s the one, but all I can see is the new threads dosent have access to classifieds or sub sections it also maybe because I had done an introduction thread yet.
