I see $5/month, (that's what I currently pay) where can I find $5 for 6 months?
Current promo is for 12 months. I was just on with them and asked when I renewed.

Geeeez, I'm 72 and Alexa has been in my life for over 6 years. I trust her.. 8)

I was a tester for Amazon of the original Echo and then with the Echo Auto when Amazon came up with that. I'm testing a new hush hush, similar offering now for Amazon.

In my homes, Alexa does lots.... Opens my garage doors, opens shades, turns lights on and off, plays music, adjusts thermostats, works my microwave, offers intercom system, initiates phone calls and much much much more...

In the JL, she tells me where I am, plays Amazon play lists, gives me weather, initiates phone calls and lots more.... Yes, I am an Alexa fanboy..
That's way too much Control over your life, wait until Alexa starts deciding what is " best " for you...

That's why you never give them your credit card. Always ask for a bill to be sent.
Do you pay with a check or money order?? Is this 1980?
Checks are just as bad...have your routing and account number in plain sight for anyone to grab.
It's all fun and games until some guy in Colorado spends all your money because someone leaked your bank info. (based on a true story)

I have no issues sending a check. They cannot renew my account with a one time invoice/payment.

If someone grabs my account and routing numbers, my bank will take care of it.

Unfortunately, SiriusXM is one of the only things I still cut a check for.

@JayCeeX2

If you go for a 6 month subscription what they presently offer ends up being about $5.00 a month... so $30 ish for 6 months.

Must be me, but I find XM really easy to deal with business wise.... no whines from me having to deal with XM. Yes, it would be nice not to have to play the renewal games every 6 months but...

I'm the same, but with Google Assistant. Smart speakers in every room, garage doors are hooked up, several smart outlets, etc.

It's really nice, tbh, but I refuse to use anything that provides access to my home (smart locks, etc). The garage doors were a stretch, but the system also alerts me whenever they open, if they stay open longer than a preset time, etc. Very worth it, and if I'm not home, the door TO the garage is locked, anyways.

You have XM "bill" your account. Then you go to their website, your account there and do a one time only charge card payment to XM. They do not keep your CC# for future billings unless you opt in for that.

Billing fee is $2.00 but some states do not allow XM to charge a billing fee... You can also ask XM to waive the billing fee and they always have done so for me.

I did some testing with / for Google but found Amazon's Alexa to be the pick of the litter so to speak.
Both are great/a pleasure to have..

No, I have an Android 11 Smartphone, and am familiar with technology. Also aware of how easily " convenience " subverts any pretence to " privacy ".
The ancient tale of the Trojan Horse, a gift, still resonates.
Be careful what you give, it's far more than you " get".
Even Mark Zuckerberg marveled how much privacy and personal information people willingly gave up for a few crumbs of Convenience. Each to his own..

You sir are correct, my son who is more tech savvy than most had Alexa for almost a year and started noticing goofy things happening like lights turning on and off and cameras coming on without him doing it so started digging as he runs all his network thru a home based VPN on a home network running a 12 TB server and found out thru network generated reports his system was being accessed without his knowledge so he dug further and it was being done by Amazon so he contacted them and they advised he needed to basically read the fine print associated with Alexa and he did and promptly cut the cord.

Technology is all around us and it’s great to have a world of info at our finger tips as this available info gives us so much but one has to think at what cost are we paying to have say “Alexa “ turn on our lights or have that “Ring” video door bell store video.

My son also works PT at the Apple Genius bar and he said i would be amazed about how many ppl just openly have private secure info openly available on their PC’s without regard to how unsecured it is.

I doubt most today including me could do without the conveniences of built in navigation, streaming music, smart devices and the list goes on but at what sacrifices are we making by giving up our privacy.

For me I will not have cameras watching my home and my security system is hot connected to the web and i try now to read carefully all of the privacy statements that I used to just fast forward skip thru and if im not comfortable with it then I just pass

To some my paranoia may seem excessive but there is already to much government control and now with the great WWW we have another evil lurking in the shadows .

My wife and I both have been victims of ID theft at the Federal level and I honestly don’t remember that ever happening back in the day when there were no smart devices and we actually wrote checks to pay for things and read a road atlas to go somewhere.

Im not saying we need to cut the cord and go back to those days but we all just need to be mindful of what can possibly happen behind closed doors.

SiriusXM is such a racket, IMO. It's bundled in with damn near every new vehicle purchase (and lots of used if you go through the dealership) and they get your information, whether you want them to or not.

Cancelling it is a NIGHTMARE. Seriously, if I ever launched a subscription services company, I would 100% hire their team to run my retentions department.

I've been researching to see if there's a way to have the dealer just never set it up. I have Spotify, Android Auto, and Google Maps. There is literally nothing that SiriusXM offers me.
I'm not sure how it's a "nightmare" to cancel if you don't want it. Once your new car trial runs out, they send you renewal offers and deals. If you don't want it, don't pay it. It's that simple. You don't have to call and cancel anything because you never really had it.

As others have mentioned here, NEVER give them your credit card info. Simply ask to be billed and make one-time payments. I've had Sirius XM since 2008 and I never pay full price. I have an annual plan so every year I call them and tell them I want to cancel and they offer me 1/2 off, or about $150 for a year (after taxes) which I don't mind paying. I listen to it all the time at home, in the Jeep, at work, when the wife is telling me about her day, or whenever the need arises.

If you really, really don't want it anymore, just tell them you want to cancel and give them an end date. They can send you bills all day, but if you don't pay, they'll cancel it.

It's the incessant contact that I consider a nuisance. Endless snail mail, email, phone calls, etc.

Last time we bought a car I literally had to have a lawyer friend draft up a letter to request them to remove all of my information from their database or risk a lawsuit.

For those that will soon be renewing...

I renewed my SiriusXM Music & Entertainment plan yesterday ... Did what XM is now calling their "5 for 30" deal so I was told. 5 months at $6.00 per month.

I may have gotten this 5 for 30 plan as I had a just a tad over one month before my subscription was to end. XM credited me for that last month.

I did not have to give charge card # and they billed my account. There was no billing/paperwork fee charged.
