On my 2018 Wrangler JL I had the 7" screen and swapped it out my self for the 8.4. It worked flawlessly! Took about 40 minutes to install and all plug and play and in my opinion definitely worth it! I paid a 1,000.00 just for the unit so 800 is a steal! I would see if the dealership would give it to you for 500 then do the install yourself very easy!
Can I ask you where you bought your 8.4"? I have the 7" and want to upgrade, but its confusing about what part will fit and which is the right one, etc. I've found these two that seem to be the same thing, but I'm confused. Also, of course no one answers the phone and no one will let me return it if its wrong. As you can see, both links indicate its an 8.4" screen. I have a 2018 JL Sport.

I haven't seen anyone mention that the 8.4" supports a front trail cam while the 7" doesn't. That's still true, right?
I've heard that too, but from what I've seen there are a lot of different part numbers for what appears to be the same 8.4" screen. My father-in-law has a 392 JLU and it comes with the front cam standard so I know there is a factory 8.4" that supports it.

Yes, the 8.4" definitely supports the trail cam. I'm pretty sure that the 7" does not.

I've had both and definitely prefer the 8.4".

If you plan on adding the trailcam 8.4 is mandatory.

It's a fun job. Jk.
