I'm trying to install some lights on my roofrack and wire then to the engine. I cannot find picture or videos of how to do this WITHOUT drilling into hard top.

Also I have the diesel, so the firewall is nearly impossible to access.

Is there another way? Spent days looking.

Can I see your wiring setup for roofrack lights?

It's kinda hard to not go through the hard top. Not many options.

If you don't find any alternate routing, the best way to run a cable through the hard top is using Marine Cable Seals.

Damn.

Is there a way through engine bay to interior without firewall?

fold down the windshield and you can run the wire inside and down the A pillar then out the bottom of it to the engine. That’s what I did with my roof light bar. No drilling or cutting required

I carefully ran my wires through the freedom top where it seals to the main top. I put a little blob of silicone there and thought it would be good.. I never took the freedom panels off so I thought that would ok.

after about 6 months it leaked. I fiddled with it trying to get it to seal without leaking without success for about 2 years. I ended up trading that Jeep in. Not because of the leak, i got a 392.

based on my experience you need to go ahead and drill the hole, use a little grommet and the seal it and you will be good to go. Any other solution will eventually leak.

its possible to run cables around the windshield frame to the hard top, as for getting the cables into the engine bay on a diesel, you have plenty of room. I've personally put 2 4 gauge cables and about 20 16-20 gauge cables from the engine bay into the cab without drilling a single hole

Here is what I had done. Once you get the wires to the interior with this method you can get into the engine bay (see other folks posts about getting wires through the firewall). I connected it to the interior aux wires so no need to go to the engine bay on my set up. Originally I want to go to the engine bay to get to the external aux wires but no clean way to do it.

Wait, where does it go once inside?

Mine has to go to the engine bay, since I'm using a voswitch. I see your tube going down the hardtop, but where does it go from there?

Someone said I can go into the brake lights, but unsure how that's done.

Here are close ups. It goes under the rubber (plenty of space) and then between the top and the body (but there are other routing options - I don't plan to take the top off).
