You will need a mounting plate. Also look up on here about how some members have ran their winch cables out the side of the badlands winch. Good luck!I have a 21 Rbicon with factory steel bumper. I am buying the Badlands Apex 12k synthetic rope winch. Do I need a mounting component? If so, what is most economical that fits my bumper ?
Good to know. My other consideration is that I have a Blue Ox baseplate for towing that I need to avoid. Looks like this plate may interfere, but not sure.I'm looking at this one from Rock Hard 4x4 Rock Hard 4x4™ Winch Plate for Factory Steel Front Bumper for Jeep Wrangler JL and Gladiator JT 2018 - Current [RH-90206] Their plate mounts the winch at an 11 degree angle to give more room for the wiring. Wiring rubbing up against the grill on a JL seems to be a thing. Many of the winches I've seen have had the main wires almost look pinched against against the bottom of the grill.
I get the price is hard to swallow. I wish the steel bumper group was completely winch ready. I believe I paid for the product that won't twist under pressure. I've read some reviews from other plates that are cheaper that have done that so I decided to go for gold.I saw that one as well, but choked on the price. Still under consideration though.
I went with "Bulldog" from e-trailer. Insall was fairly easy, however, as warned, the clutch lever significantly interferes with the bumper. Winch works great, but i can't freespool the rope out until figure something out with the handle.I plan to use this one. 1/4" steel, made in USA and good price. https://www.quadratec.com/p/american-trail-products/winch-mount-plate-jeep-wrangler-jl-rubicon
