I just installed the Badlands Apex 12k winch on wifey’s 2019 Sahara 2.0T. Anybody have pics of where they mounted the winch disconnect switch?

I'm often occupied, by many things, often at the same time
Mine is just a screw that holds the wire. It's either connected, or if I disconnect it, it's disconnected. Works every time.

I have seen a few posts on this, not sure that I understand the need for it. The draw on the battery even with the newer remote has not been significant enough to run my battery down after a month of not starting the vehicle. I have had several Jeeps wired directly to the batteries without any problem of fire or electrical problems. The manufactures would surely make this a requirement if it was a wide spread problem, instead, all the manuals I have seen have shown the leads directly attached to the battery.

It's more to just take a high current item from being turned on by any dick walking by.

OP, a lot of people, myself included, installed a seperate solenoid triggered by an aux switch. Look on here, there is a walkthrough.

I hear ya about not needing the switch. It’s a peace of mind thing for me. Recently here in town a JLU owner got in a slight fender bender and was able to safely drive to the side of the road to exchange insurance info and such. As this was going on, smoke started coming out from under the hood and the Jeep burnt to the ground. It was later determined the hot cable from the winch to the battery was pinched during the fender bender.

Don't they need to tether the remote to the winch to activate it? Even my old warn had to have a hand control attached to spool in and out. I am fortunate that I don't use my JLUR as a daily driver so it is not out in the public very often to have to worry about these things.

I also see the point about the voltage in case of a fender bender, but a battery or any other lead can come loose with the same result.

Not trying to argue the point and the fix seems easy enough if you are concerned about the above.

Front impact, no fuse or breaker equals fire. Winch mfg wiring drawings protect the winch, not the vehicle or driver.

Yes Rick that is spot on.

Do not think of winch disconnect. What you want is a battery disconnect outside of the vehicle with quick access.

As far as winch simply fuse the wire. Size the fuse to the wire size.

Again, not arguing that can happen. So can a myriad of other things during an accident. It just does not happen very often...
